About the adventure

Icewind Dale has not seen the sun in over two years. What began as a harsh winter has become an endless night, a curse of cold and darkness smothering the far north. The aurora burns eerily above, beautiful and wrong, while the wind howls like something alive. Food grows scarce, trade has withered, and Ten-Towns survives by desperation, superstition, and stubborn hope. Monsters stalk the tundra more boldly than ever—hungry beasts, twisted things drawn by the cold, and shapes that move beneath the ice. People vanish on lonely roads. Old ruins crack open as the permafrost shifts. Whispers spread of sacrifices, ancient magic, and a presence beneath the glaciers that dreams of eternal winter. Each town has its own troubles, grudges, and secrets. Some pray for salvation. Others profit from suffering. And far beyond the flickering torchlight, something ancient stirs—patient, watching, waiting for the right moment to wake. Icewind Dale does not care if you are a hero. But it will test what you are willing to become to survive. You Might Be A native of Ten-Towns, hardened by cold and loss, fighting to protect your home or escape it. A mercenary or adventurer, drawn north by rumors of pay, lost relics, or desperate contracts. A refugee or exile, fleeing the south with nowhere left to go but the frozen edge of the world. A scholar, mage, or priest, seeking the truth behind the Everlasting Rime or the gods tied to it. A hunter, trapper, or guide, whose livelihood depends on the tundra and who knows it’s changing. A criminal or fugitive, hiding where the law is weak and the cold kills pursuers faster than blades. Whether bound by chance, necessity, or fate, you find yourselves in Icewind Dale as the long night deepens. The cold is tightening its grip. The people are losing hope. And whatever is coming… will not be stopped by warmth alone.

About me

Hello, my name is Andrew, and I am a Dungeon Master. I have been playing D&D for over 10 years and have been a DM for half that time. I have a passion for running intense horror campaigns, crafting stories filled with tension, mystery, and psychological dread. Whether it's gothic nightmares, cosmic terrors, or unsettling folk horror, I love immersing players in eerie, suspenseful worlds where fear is just as powerful as any monster they face.

How Andrew creates a safe table

🛠️ Session 0 – Setting Boundaries Before we begin, we’ll have a Session 0 to discuss: Content Boundaries 🔲 (Lines & Veils, topics to avoid, or limit) Character Themes & Tone 🎭 (What kind of stories do you want to tell?) Player Comfort Tools ⚠️ (X-Card, "pause for a moment," etc.) Gameplay Expectations 🎲 (Tone, difficulty, and level of intensity) Horror is best when it’s tailored to the players—so if certain topics don’t work, we’ll adjust! ⏸️ Breaks & Check-Ins Regular Breaks (as needed) Mid-Session Check-Ins (Quick “How’s everyone feeling?” moments) No Pressure to Continue (If a scene becomes too much, we can pause, fade to black, or shift focus) 💬 Aftercare – Decompression & De-Railing Post-Session Talk (A few minutes to discuss intense moments, address concerns, and share highlights) Debrief & Light Chat (Switching topics, memes, or just casual talk to help shake off tension) Emotional Cool-Down (If a session was heavy, checking in afterward to make sure everyone’s okay)
