About the adventure

This campaign will be utilizing the famous Chicago by Night setting of Vampire: The Masquerade, following a group of neonate vampires making their way in the Windy City. Players can expect to get embroiled in the political scheming and backstabbing of the Camarilla and the vampiric Jyhad at large, either helping to support the status quo or seizing power for themselves while leaving the mortal world none the wiser. Clan and sect divides, conflict between supernatural creatures of all types, and much more can be expected. Importantly, this campaign will be utilizing anthropomorphic characters (furries!) in place of humans! Any species, from wolf to bird to deer to goat and beyond, will be accepted to play, and will likely show up in the story as NPCs! You do not have to be familiar with VtM or the furry fandom to play - newcomers of all kinds are welcomed!

About me

Heya! My name is Brandon, though everyone online calls me Dok. I'm a veteran of TTRPGs, both running and playing for about 15 years now. I got my start with some old 1st edition D&D books my father gave me when I was 12. Nowadays, I run all sorts of stuff on a regular basis, ranging from staples like D&D 5E to Call of Cthulhu to more obscure systems like All Flesh Must be Eaten. I fancy myself as quite personable, and I'm always LGBTQ+ friendly. My preferred method for communications is Discord, and I normally use Foundry as a VTT. Thanks for giving me a look!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be handled during the free session zero. Players will be starting as neonate vampires (less than a century of unlife), using the standard character creation rules with the addition of a few house rules. No need to worry if you're unfamiliar, I'll be guiding all players through character creation from start to finish!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need a Discord account and a decent-quality microphone. We'll be using Discord for communications and Foundry as a VTT!

What Dok brings to the table

All books necessary will be provided, as will access to the VTT. I make frequent use of ambient music, and I am trying to get better at voicing characters, so some voices can be expected! In terms of my playstyle, I tend to favor Rule of Cool and Rules as Intended over strict interpretation - We're all here to have fun, after all, not adhere to a document like it were an exam! Any minor tidbits and foibles necessary will be gone over during session 0.

Homebrew rules

A few homebrew rules are present for this setting: -The lowest starting Generation allowed will be 10th. -Bloodlines will not be allowed, original 13 Clans and Caitiff only. -Most importantly, characters will be anthro/furry characters! It will only be an aesthetic change and will have no bearing on gameplay.

Safety

How Dok creates a safe table

By its nature, Vampire: The Masquerade is a very dark game. Players can expect gore, realistic combat using guns, melee weapons and supernatural powers, some occasional prejudices of various types and, of course, vampirism! I utilize the Lines and Veils system (decided during session 0) to determine what should be glossed over or outright avoided, along with an open door policy and X cards in the case that something should come up which makes a player uncomfortable. While prejudice and bigotry may show up in-character, I have a zero-tolerance policy for sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. amongst players at the table.
