About the adventure
$5 Discount on the Full First Episode (entire Shadows Over Faerûn Campaign). In accordance with StartPlaying rules, discounts are applied after joining. Playtested and approved, Tales of Toril uses premium quality assets to enhance immersion at the table. This campaign uses the brand-new setting guide Forgotten Realms – Adventures in Faerûn and the brand-new player supplement Forgotten Realms – Heroes of Faerûn. These books shape the tone, history, and structure of the world you are about to enter – All players have access to sourcebooks via D&D Beyond. Presented by DM ZeroFlux and Tupinikim Studio, this campaign is not a usual Dungeons & Dragons adventure. It invites you to step into another life, one where you do not simply move a character across a map. You live as them, feeling their hopes, their doubts, and the weight of every choice they make. The story is meant to be walked from the inside, until the line between you and your hero becomes thin and the journey feels personal. The North has changed since a ritual almost broke the world. Strange storms left marks across the land, and magic now moves in ways it did not before. Creatures wander into places where they were never seen. Soul Marks shine in the moonlight. People speak in quiet voices about the Storm Coin, an object said to open paths between worlds or tear them apart. The edges of reality are loose, letting pieces of faraway realms slip into Faerûn. Many now wake with powers they never asked for, and not all of them feel like a gift. Tales of Toril begins in New Thundertree, a small settlement built by people who refuse to give up on hope. Travelers come with stories they cannot explain and secrets they have not yet faced. The tone of the adventure is steady and thoughtful. Choices matter. The world reacts to what you do. Each step you take guides whether this wounded land finds a way to heal or breaks even further. The storm is over, but its voice still lies in the wind. In that quiet echo, something in the dark has begun to learn your name.

Creating your character
[DM ZeroFlux] - All characters for my games are created and managed through D&D Beyond, then imported directly into Foundry VTT for play. This ensures that everyone’s sheet, rolls, and abilities remain consistent and fully integrated into the platform. During gameplay, characters are locked in their current state to preserve fairness and game flow. Between sessions, players may update or level up their characters in D&D Beyond and then re-import them into Foundry VTT before the next game. Character creation takes place during Session 0, guided directly by the DM to maintain story and mechanical consistency across the party. Together we’ll build each character’s background and motivations, tying them meaningfully into the unfolding narrative, because in Tales of Toril, the story grows from who you are as much as what you do. For this campaign, character options are limited to the following official sources: Player’s Handbook (2024 Edition) Dungeon Master's Guide (2024 Edition) Adventures in Faerûn Module Heroes of Faerûn Sourcebook Background stories and personal hooks are highly encouraged as they help weave your character directly into the living world and the story is directly tied to each character.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before joining the game, players should complete a few quick steps to ensure everything runs smoothly: Create a D&D Beyond account. All character creation and leveling will be handled through D&D Beyond. Join the campaign’s Discord server. This will be the main communication hub for announcements, scheduling, session coordination, and player resources. You’ll also find the Lines & Veils document and other safety tools there. Optional but recommended. Familiarize yourself with the Foundry VTT interface if you’ve never used it before. A short walkthrough will be provided during Session 0. These steps must be completed before Session 0, where we’ll build characters together, discuss expectations, and set the tone for the campaign. Come ready to create, collaborate, and step into the story.
What Tupinikim Studio brings to the table
[DM ZeroFlux] - As your Dungeon Master, I bring atmosphere, emotion, and a cinematic edge to every session. You can expect immersive storytelling, dynamic pacing, and a world that reacts meaningfully to your choices. I use character voices to bring NPCs to life. Sometimes dramatic, sometimes humorous, always in service of the story. Throughout each session, ambient music and soundscapes set the tone, shifting seamlessly between exploration, combat, intrigue, and emotional moments. The goal is simple: to make every scene feel alive. When it comes to gameplay, the Rule of Cool reigns supreme. If an idea fits the story, sounds awesome, and makes sense in the moment, we’ll make it happen. However, during boss battles or pivotal encounters that can shape the direction of the entire campaign, I switch gears to Rules as Written for precision, fairness, and strategy. Players can expect a mix of cinematic flair and grounded mechanics. A balance that keeps every game exciting, memorable, and uniquely yours.
Homebrew rules
Heroic Intervention - Reaction (Homebrew Rule by DM ZeroFlux) In my games, combat rounds represent roughly six seconds of simultaneous action. Every swing, spell, and movement happening in near unison. To capture that chaos, I use a homebrew rule called Heroic Intervention. When an ally is in immediate danger - about to take a critical hit, fall from a height, or suffer a deadly spell - another player may declare a Heroic Intervention. The intervening character makes a Perception check (DC set by the situation’s difficulty). On success, they can use their reaction to assist, defend, or alter the outcome. Obviously, but worth mentioning, if you used your reaction for that round, you can't take the Heroic Intervention. Characters who previously used the Ready action can intervene without making a Perception check, even if the event doesn’t perfectly match their original trigger. This rule adds cinematic spontaneity and teamwork to combat, rewarding quick thinking and cooperation - because true heroism doesn’t always wait for initiative.

How Tupinikim Studio creates a safe table
At Tupinikim Studio, player safety and comfort come first. Every game hosted under our banner follows the same core principles of respect, communication, and emotional safety. Each campaign has a dedicated Discord server, where players can access our Lines & Veils document - a clear guide outlining sensitive themes, player boundaries, and tone expectations. Before the adventure begins, every group participates in a Session 0 to discuss comfort levels, establish group dynamics, and ensure that everyone understands the atmosphere and style of play. All Tupinikim Studio Game Masters use the X, N & O system for real-time safety tools. Players may privately message their GM at any time if a moment feels uncomfortable or crosses a line. The message remains anonymous to the group, and the GM will immediately adjust or fade content to keep play safe and enjoyable for everyone. After each session, short check-ins give players a chance to share feedback, decompress, or highlight favorite moments. Whether your table is led by DM ZeroFlux or any other Tupinikim Studio storyteller, you can always expect a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative environment.
