About the adventure

Doskvol's streets coil like a wounded snake. Cobblestones glistening under gaslight's sickly glow. Shadows gather thick in alleys, heavy with whispers and the stench of salt and coal. Crooked buildings loom, their windows gleaming like sharp, watchful eyes. The fog creeps in from the docks, shrouding a crew of scoundrels on route to commit tonight’s perfect crime. ‘Perfect Crime’ is a one-shot series that takes players through a single daring score each time, be it a risky heist, a nasty sabotage, or a well-orchestrated vanishing act. Each one-shot will bring a self-contained story, but you can carry over or bring back your character from a previous score.

About me

Hey, I’m DC, a GM of the forever type. Started playing and running AD&D 2nd edition in the ‘90s, soon extending into some of the next gen games of the era (Ars Magica, Call of Cthulhu, Cyberpunk 2020, Earthdawn, White Wolf’s Vampire, Werewolf, and Mage). I’ve picked up the hobby again with D&D 5e (as you do) around 2020, and running games in English since then, both online and at the table. I’m also most eager to branch out into some of the interesting new stuff that came out lately.

Character creation

Creating your character

We’re creating characters at the start of the session. Please spare a couple minutes beforehand on what kind of crew and scoundrel you’d like to play (and those you’d rather not).

The current party

'Operation Golden Goose' is a story about industrial espionage gone bad and treachery among thieves; plan your characters accordingly. You can choose to engage with the story walking down one of two different paths, with a number of brief scores to play for each.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Make sure you can connect to Roll20 before the game. Check if your Discord's audio/video is operational, using a webcam is mandatory. Please use earplugs or headphones and avoid playing from your phone if possible.

What DC brings to the table

We'll primarily use theatre of the mind, with Roll20 handling character sheets, clocks, dice, handouts, and city maps. The session will start with an introduction or brief refresher on the setting and system. Assuming all goes well, we'll create your characters, and get right into the middle of things, Blades-style. No preparation is needed on your part, but you'll find links and resources for ‘Blades in the Dark’ on the Discord server.

Homebrew rules

No crew or faction game, reduced downtime activities (it's a one-shot).

Safety

How DC creates a safe table

We'll talk over themes, expectations, as well as lines and veils for the game during session zero, covering most of our bases. And always feel free to send me any feedback or message if you feel there's something that needs addressing.
