About the adventure

---SUMMARY---- Sometimes, you don't really want to roleplay. Sometimes, you just want to bring a crazy character concept to a one-off fight against a fun and silly monster. Well, here's you chance! Bring your craziest min-maxxed characters and go wild in an all-out fight against the dreaded Mothman, terror of the skies! ---WHAT TO EXPECT---- This is intended to be a fun, silly, free-for-all battle with little to no roleplay and a heavy focus on combat. I actively encourage you to mess around with the system and create a crazy character that wouldn't work in a normal campaign! We'll play the fight as a one-shot via discord voice call. ---DISCLAIMER?--- To be completely up-front, I'm currently working on making stat blocks of a bunch of cryptids, and I want to use these games as a sort of 'playtest' to make sure they're balanced correctly. I'll be very open to feedback, so please let me know your thoughts both during and after the game. If you want to fight various other cryptids at other levels, check out my DM Profile!

About me

Hi I'm Kat! I've been playing TTRPGs (D&D mostly) for 15~ish years. I've also been professionally teaching people how to play D&D 5e for about 4 years now, and I've gotten a lot of good feedback! I'm all about helping new players get into the game since I understand it can be hard to jump in on your own, even with all of the resources out there. Aside from DnD, I'm a big fan of horror stuff (I love a good game of Dread) and an avid video gamer.

Character creation

Creating your character

Please create your character before the session starts using the 2024 rule set. You can use either standard array or point buy, whichever you prefer, and be sure to level yourself up to 8th level. You can also take one magic item of rarity "Rare" or lower, but only from officially published sources (if you really want to take a homebrewed magic time, send it to me ahead of time and I'll consider it.) If you want to use a 5e subclass that hasn't yet been added to the 2024 ruleset, please let me know ahead of time so we can work out anything that may need to be reworked/changed.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have your character ready ahead of time, and make sure to join the discord server.

What Kat brings to the table

I'll have a digital battle map and tokens, so if you have a specific image you'd like to use for your character, send it to me before the session so I can make a token for you.

Homebrew rules

-Drinking a potion is a bonus action, but feeding it to someone else is an action. -Flanking grants a +2 to attack, instead of granting advantage on attack rolls. -Diagonal movement will follow the 5-10 rule (every other diagonal counts as 10ft of movement).

Safety

How Kat creates a safe table

As a one-shot session with a primary focus on combat, we shouldn't be touching on anything too sensitive. Regardless, I always implement an open door policy, and we will have an X/N/O policy that can always be put into chat or messaged privately to me.
