About the adventure
Welcome to Waterdeep: Dragon Heist and Dungeon of the Mad Mage a sprawling urban epic that begins with political intrigue and criminal conspiracies, and descends into one of the most infamous dungeons in Faerûn. Whether you're a cunning rogue, a silver-tongued bard, or a wide-eyed adventurer chasing your first payday, this campaign offers a journey from the sparkling heights of Waterdeep's nobility to the dark, twisted depths of Undermountain. This is a two-part mega campaign, first, you’ll navigate the streets, alleys, and hidden corners of Waterdeep, a city teeming with secrets, colorful factions, and power-hungry villains. Who will claim the hoard of hidden gold? And what price are you willing to pay to win the game? Expect mystery, espionage, high-society drama, and maybe a rooftop chase or two. Then, when the dust settles above ground, the doors to Undermountain will open and your descent into madness begins. Each level of the dungeon is its own world, filled with traps, monsters, and ancient arcane puzzles. This campaign is ideal for players who love a blend of roleplay, intrigue, and classic dungeon-crawling. Waterdeep encourages creative problem-solving, social maneuvering, and moral ambiguity, while Undermountain challenges your tactical thinking, survival instincts, and courage. If you enjoy long-term storytelling, memorable NPCs, and a world that reacts to your choices, this is the game for you. ------------------------------ This is a play-by-post campaign to be held asynchronously over Discord. The main strength of this style of play is that players can contribute whenever they have the time, making it perfect for those with busy schedules or living in different time zones. Each player adds to the story at their own pace, giving themselves time to think about their character's actions and reactions. As your Dungeon Master, I will commit to posting at least three times per day, 6 days a week; and encourage you as a player to post at least once or twice per day.
