Creating your character

We'll generate 3rd level characters as a group! You can roll for them manually (takes 5-15 minutes) or using shadowdarklings.net Stats will be rolled with 3d6 down the line. You can reroll the set if you didn't get at least one 14+. You can also swap two stats (e.g. WIS & INT) so that you can play the class you want to play. If this doesn't make sense to you, don't worry! It's simpler than it might sound. I'll explain everything in Session 0.

Preparing for the session

We will play using Roll20 and Discord. Please be sure to have an account for each of these before the game starts! Once you've signed up for a game, I'll send you a message inviting you to the relevant servers. The entire process only takes a few minutes. What Lucas brings to the table

The world and setting are dark, but we're going to have plenty of fun and laughs along the way! | TONE & STYLE | Epic, cinematic, horror... | PILLARS OF GAMEPLAY | We will touch upon all "three pillars" of RPGs - combat, exploration, and roleplay. Rulings > Rules. The Rule of Cool reigns supreme. HIGH STAKES games are the norm at my table: high risk for high reward.

Homebrew rules

RULE OF COOL. We're here to tell cool stories and have fun. RULINGS > RULES. If and when we're unsure about the rules, I'll mark it down to search later but the game must go on. LUCK. Every session, you gain 1 point of Luck. You can hoard as many of these as you want. Use Luck to: - Reroll (before the result is declared). - Turn a hit into a critical hit (before the result is declared). - Force me to roll disadvantage (before the result is declared). HP. To mitigate some of the deadliness in the game, at LEVEL 1 your character starts with max HP.

How Lucas creates a safe table

1. Before the session, I will send over the Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist. I will not share these with anyone. 2. At the start of Session 0, we will go over the Lines & Veils as determined by my own guidelines and your Consent Checklists. If there's anything that needs to be clarified, we can chat about it as a group. I will also remind you about the theme and tone of the campaign at this time. 3. During sessions: - You are free to privately message me if you're getting uncomfortable or to say so in front of the group. - We will have a break halfway through the session, during which you can also speak to me privately or to the group. - My table always has an Open Door policy - if you need to step away, you are more than welcome to. 4. After the session... - I will ask how everyone found the session. This is also a good time to bring up anything that made you uncomfortable, if needed. - Additionally, I am available between sessions - don't hesitate to reach out so we can chat about how things are going.
