About the adventure
The sun exploded in the sky a century ago, leaving our lands covered in darkness and eternal winter. Trade stopped, farms died out, scared and vulnerable masses died — entire empires disappeared within days and weeks. That was then. Now, it's time to rebuild. The Arcanists Guild of New Astralon — a consortium of wizards and engineers — is paying adventurers in fistfuls of gold to meet neighbors; expand borders; discover dark gods; fight demons, cultists, and worse; loot magical artifacts of power; and uncover knowledge about what *really* happened during Skyfall. All while constructing a new beacon that will light the way and bring back trade and commerce. Each mission you undertake will offer experience, loot, and payment from the Guild for services rendered. You also contribute to the community goals with each mission, too! The progress you make will help the entire Guild unlock powerful milestones, making the furthest reaches even more accessible. *This is a single-episode session. Hi, I'm Nicole! I'm an RPG blogger and professional GM/Storyteller from the Netherlands. I've played TTRPGs for over twenty years now, and I've GM'd for the greater part of that, with long-time experience covering Pathfinder & Starfinder; Daggerheart; World of Darkness games including Vampire, Hunter, and Mage; plus other titles like Fate, Dungeon World, and Blades in the Dark. Creating your character
If you're new to the campaign, I invite you to check out the free Session 0 adventure, "Lighthouse of Old Astralon"! This gives you an opportunity to make a new character, integrate them with the town of New Astralon, and learn the player-facing rules (if you haven't played Daggerheart before). For this campaign, all newly-created PCs begin at level 2 with 3 handfuls of gold (used to buy potions and other items). You'll gain levels, money, and additional cool items by playing the game. As a West Marches style game, a character you create can be played in any of our sessions, including sessions on different days and times. You can also create multiple characters, and pick which one you play for any given episode.

Preparing for the session
You will need (free) accounts on Discord, Forge-VTT, and Demiplane (optional but recommended). https://discord.gg/YfkhkRsN6W — if you are not already a member of the server, send me a discord DM when you join! Our server has an "Entrance Hall" to help keep spammers out. https://forge-vtt.com/ — We play with Foundry VTT, for which Forge is our hosting provider. You'll need a free account for Forge, and our instance invitation link is available on our Discord server. https://app.demiplane.com/home — Technically optional but highly recommended. Demiplane allows me to share my digital library with you, so there is no cost to my players.
What Nicole brings to the table
The Starless Marches is 100% original storytelling content, so this is a one-of-a-kind campaign. It's been cooking for over five years now, and I'm beyond thrilled to share it with the world! This campaign follows a 3-act structure. We begin with Act I, in which player characters begin at level 2. By the end of Act III our characters should be reaching highest level.
Homebrew rules
This story uses a custom-designed Campaign Frame. Some highlights include: - A Point-Crawl travel system for exploring the wilderness beyond the heat-dome of New Astralon - Permanent community upgrades as the campaign continues, including lightstones, shops with better gear, road upgrades and more - Homemade, setting-relevant content that has yet to be discovered, including bonus domain cards, subclasses, and ancestries

How Nicole creates a safe table
We offer a separate "Session 0" in the form of a free introductory one-shot! This lets you try out me as a GM, as well as get a feel for the community we're building. This also doubles as a fun introduction to Daggerheart, if you've never played! For all games, we use the following tools: Open Door, X/N/O Cards, and Breaks. StartPlaying provides explanations on these tools, and hopefully you're able to join a Session 0 where we can discuss them. Explanations are always available at any time, but in summary: - If you need to step away for any reason, this is always OK, for any reason. - If the content in a scene is troubling for any reason, let me know (either in voice or in Discord — my DMs are open) and we can pause the scene and review/adjust anonymously. - We have a 10-minute break usually around the midpoint, and can have additional breaks if necessary. - Lines & Veils are available upon request, please reach out about any questions or concerns! Lastly, this campaign is LGBTQ++ owned & operated. We keep a zero-tolerance policy against harassment, hate speech, and "TRASH" behavior (Transphobic, Racist, Ableist, Sexist, or Homophobic).
