About the adventure

Heroes are needed in the frozen frontier! An ancient white dragon has descended from the Sword Mountains, blanketing the land in endless winter. Villages fall silent, roads vanish beneath snow, and the desperate whisper of a song—the Pale Requiem—echoes across the hills. You must rally scattered survivors, forge fragile alliances, and confront the dragon before the cold claims everything. But each day the frost deepens, and soon even courage may freeze beneath its shadow. ⚔️ Expertly balanced encounters using official, custom, and 3rd-party content — designed for tactical depth and dramatic moments every session. 🏪 Carefully balanced loot tables featuring all official magic items and select homebrew treasures — plus interactive shops that evolve with your party’s story and needs (for a price, of course). 🗺️ Dynamic, hand-drawn maps powered by Fantasy Grounds Unity — featuring live weather effects, adaptive lighting, and fog of war to bring every scene to life. 🎶 A welcoming, story-driven table enhanced with cinematic music and ambience — where creativity, clever plans, and character-driven moments shape every session. 📜Post-session Stars & Wishes and brief follow-ups (15–30 min) to reflect on highlights, gather feedback, and shape the adventure around player expectations. 📊 Bonus XP and stat tracking after every session — encouraging friendly competition, celebrating achievements, and keeping progress exciting!

About me

I’m Thomas—“Tidal”—a story-first, rules-solid 5e Dungeon Master. I run cinematic sessions in Fantasy Grounds Unity with clean automation and curated music. I build character-driven side quests and tune tone/difficulty to the table. I’ve led Princes of the Apocalypse, Lost Mine of Phandelver, and Dragon of Icespire Peak. We start with Session Zero and a simple content-boundaries check (Lines & Veils). New players welcome; veterans challenged.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character Creation Guidelines Starting Level: 2 All new characters begin at level 2 with the following gear: • Class starting equipment (as listed in the Player’s Handbook or D&D Beyond) • Background equipment (as listed with your chosen background) • 2 Potion of Healing (2d4 + 2 HP when consumed) • 200 gold pieces (gp) to spend on personal upgrades, supplies, or roleplay flavor Players may create their characters in either Fantasy Grounds Unity (FGU) or D&D Beyond. If you already have an existing character, please ensure it follows the hybrid creation rules below. ⚔️ Hybrid Character Creation Rules This campaign uses a Hybrid 2014–2024 ruleset. Follow these steps when building your character: 1. Core Rule Selection If your character uses 2024 rules, use the 2024 version of all content available. If your character uses 2014 rules, keep your original options unless a 2024 version exists. When both versions exist (e.g., subclasses or spells), the 2024 version takes precedence. 2. Subclasses If a 2014 subclass has a 2024 version, use the 2024 version. If it does not have a 2024 version, you may continue using the 2014 subclass as written. 3. Backgrounds If you are using a 2014 background, apply the following updates to align with 2024 design: Choose two ability scores to increase by +2 and +1, or +1 to three different scores. Select one Origin Feat of your choice, granted as part of your background. 4. Ability Scores All players use either Standard Array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) or Point Buy (27 points) for ability scores. 🛠 Character Submission Options Option 1: Fantasy Grounds Unity (FGU) If you create your character directly in Fantasy Grounds: You can upload your character file (.xml) when you join the campaign session. Make sure your character sheet is complete before the first game. Option 2: D&D Beyond If you build your character on D&D Beyond: Set your character to Public. Copy your Character ID from the URL (the number at the end). Go to Beyond2FantasyGrounds.com Paste your Character ID or URL. Generate and download your .xml file. Upload the file when you join the Fantasy Grounds session. Final Notes Please review your sheet for accuracy and level 2 readiness before uploading. If you’re unsure about compatibility or need guidance, reach out — I’m happy to help adjust your build.

What Thomas “Tidal” Hoang brings to the table

I am a Fantasy Grounds Unity Ultimate License Holder, which means players can join for free — no purchase required. By joining the campaign in Fantasy Grounds, you’ll automatically gain access to: 📚 All rulebooks and supplements relevant to the campaign 🗺️ High-quality maps with dynamic lighting and line of sight 🎧 Immersive music and ambient soundscapes for cinematic immersion 🎭 Discord Server(Available after booking):  Used for voice chat, and out-of-session RP 🪶 A professional, story-driven experience blending tactical combat, deep roleplay, and evolving world consequences

Homebrew rules

I generally follow the Rules as Written (RAW) with minimal modifications. However, I occasionally apply the Rule of Cool when it enhances the story or player creativity without breaking balance. Here’s what to expect at my table: 🎲 Rule of Cool: Creative or cinematic actions may earn advantage or narrative success if they make sense in the scene. 🧭 XP Progression: Hybrid system using Bonus XP for combat and support, combined with milestone leveling for major story arcs. ⚖️ Level Gap Limit: Party members may vary slightly in level, but no more than 1 level difference is maintained for balance.

Safety

How Thomas “Tidal” Hoang creates a safe table

Player safety and comfort are non-negotiable in my games. Before applying, all prospective players are required to complete my Safety & Consent Form, which establishes tone, boundaries, and table etiquette. 🛡️ Form Link: https://forms.gle/o1bTthb6uM4QUHSn8 This form covers: Lines & Veils: player-defined boundaries and fade-to-black topics Tone & Themes: campaign intensity and emotional depth Safety Tools: X/N/O system, pause signals, and open-door policy Player Conduct: collaboration, respect, and no-PvP without consent During Session 0, we review everyone’s comfort levels, set expectations for play style and tone, and ensure all players understand how to use safety tools in real time. Aftercare is handled through short post-session check-ins (group or private) to make sure everyone remains comfortable as the story progresses. This form must be completed before joining or applying to the campaign. My table values mutual respect, communication, and ongoing consent.
