About the adventure

The Fallenlands is an open world home brew game. The story is largely based on the players. This is an open world were the players decisions, problem solving, and backstory, make the world, but that doesn't mean that things are afoot in the shadows. This is an RP heave campaign, you don't have to use voices or act out everything, but the interactions between players and NPC's are important. There will be combat, and I use maps most of the time through Foundry VTT. Above all have fun!

About me

Hello, I have been playing and gamemastering tabletop RPG's for about 20 years, and dungeons and dragons lies at the hard of those years. I believe RPG's are an awesome tool for creativity, friendship, expression, and entertainment. I think RPG's are for everyone and that everyone should have fun in the prosses. RPG's are about telling an epic story together and fulfill the creativity of everyone at the table. I believe RPG's can be more that hack and slash events, although they can be fun. Finding creative ways to deal with problems and using your imagination to manage group dynamics, diplomacy, and personal growth. I am currently completing my degree in sociology and a minor in psychology. This knowledge plays a big part in my campaigns and the structure of world and the people in it. It also means that everyone is welcome in my campaigns and I expect other players to be accepting and kind. Above everything lets have fun and tell a story together!

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created in dndbeyond and will start at level 1. Come to session 0 with an idea and we will discuss them and how others feel. Things may change as ideas come up. I use point buy, as well as, most of the races. After or during session 0 create a backstory and complete your character. Make something you will enjoy playing and will have fun with.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I use audio and video over discord, use dndbeyond for characters, and foundry VTT for maps. You can roll dice on dndbeyond or for real, but be honest its more fun. I prefer audio and video so I can see the players and their reactions, the social aspect of RPG's is important to me. I will use maps, movement, and such through foundry VTT.

What Dustin brings to the table

I will have maps, access to dndbeyond content, and a good story.

Safety

How Dustin creates a safe table

General game play consists of roleplay, planning, exploration, killing some bad guys, and saving the world. The evils that exist in the real world will probably exist in the game, but with magic. Sometimes things may be heavy or stressful, but still part of the story. Verbal depictions of death, wounds, torture or pain are sometimes used. This, as well as, possible in game relationships, triggers, and stress can be discussed in session 0. If at any point someone feels uncomfortable please let me know either in game or privately. Also let me know in session 0 if you have topics or events that could bother you or be triggers, either in game or privately. I want my games to be safe and enjoyable. Most content will be PG-13, but this depends on the players. Also I expect everyone to be kind to one another and in the event someone is uncomfortable or triggered you are respectful and understanding. I reserve the right to boot anyone from the game if they are rude, unkind, or problematic to me or any of the other players.
