About the adventure

Play in a rules light, easy to pick up game, where player's agency is key. You will travel through a map of a realm full of myths, as a knight that swore to protect its inhabitants no matter the cost. In short, the game will focus on exploration of a land of ancient myth and seeking adventure. The game is a sandbox, meaning that there is no pre-written overarching plot and the story naturally evolves with players' choices. You will be in charge of where to go next, and you will also be the one setting your own goals in the game world. There is no big bad evil guy waiting for you, but rather many small intertwined stories. If you do not interact with them, they will happen on their own and change the realm for the better or the worse. The games will consist of traveling on a map, where you will encounter omens of myths, that threaten the realm. Your job is to protect your kingdom from those myths. The myths are very varied, some involve mythical creatures that need to be defeated, while others present challenges due to a calamity threatening the realm such as a black fog spreading a disease. You will have the option to approach the problem as you wish. The game grants experience points only for engaging with the myths and not successfully defeating a threat. Thus, the game focuses on engaging with the world rather than a series of combat encounters. We will not be playing in a prewritten setting. Rather, using the guidelines of the book, I will create an adventure landscape full of dangers for you to discover just for this campaign! I am looking forward to starting this campaign with you. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to message me directly:) Hope to hear from you soon!

About me

Hey, I am Wojtek and I am currently a master student. I play ttrpgs since I am 8. The games that are enjoyed the most are the ones that rely on the players coming up with creative solutions themselves rather than having a character that has a skill for every possible situation,as I feel that this creates the best memories and greater player engagement. I most often run three kinds of games: - crazy high action, where a fight in which everybody is falling off a skyscraper without a parachute is a casual Monday - deep investigation scenarios where taking notes is necessary to crack all the intricacies of my mystery - or good old dungeons, where you can find a bit of both mystery and action Let me know if any of those games sounds appealing to you:)

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create characters together at the beginning of the first session. It will be fairly quick, and consist of rolling a specific weird fantasy power and quirk unique to your character! You can always change the powers if you are not happy with what you got;). The game has a very specific idea of what player characters are. You will be playing as a knight that swore an oath to: SEEK THE MYTHS Honor THE SEERS PROTECT THE REALM and this assumption is needed for the game to work. All the characters also have a superpower, granted to them by the seer: all knowing and weird creatures, that you will have a chance to meet during our sessions! It is important to note that the game will focus more on the history of your characters as a group of knight rather than on a tragic backstory of your PC. However, you are free to choose who your character was before becoming a knight and why/how they became a knight. I will also explain the rules of the game once you join the campaign.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Things to prepare: Print out a character sheet, or have a way to easily edit it. I think that printing a character sheet helps people to be more engaged, but do what works best for you. I will make the character sheet available through the discord server. Technical considerations: You need a discord account. Also, I will be playing music through Watch2Gether, so to listen to the music (which is optional, but I strongly recommend it) you will need a second open tab in the background. We will also use Miro as VTT, so you will need to make a free account for it. Miro is not designed with tabletop games in mind, so don't be surprised when looking it up. I decided to use it for the campaign since it is very intuitive, and actually works very well for ttrpgs:)

What Wojtek brings to the table

I will create a map on which your characters will travel in no preplaned direction, filled with hidden dungeons, blocked passages, dangers and myths to be discovered! My goal when GMing is for your actions to have consequences and choices to matter. I will do my best to emulate a responsive, breathing world, on which your action will have a real impact. I will telegraph when a situation is dangerous for your character, and if you decide to go there, I will be an impartial arbiter letting the dice and your cunning decide if your character will come back alive. I am always happy to listen to player feedback and incorporate it to the best of my abilities into the game, if the suggestion does not break the game, or make it less enjoyable for other players at the table. Also, during the games we will be listening to a playlist I will make for the campaign to help you feel immersed.

Homebrew rules

We will mostly stick to what is written in the book, so that you have a better understanding of how the system feels. I am also happy to make rule adjustments in between sessions if everybody at the table feels that rules are getting in the way of the fun.

Safety

How Wojtek creates a safe table

I mostly rely on the X, N and O cards (also known as the traffic light system). On the discord server on which we will play, everybody will have the option to press a button that will state: "Red", "Yellow" or "Green" at any time in the game, to avoid any uncomfortable topics during the games. I will explain in more detail how that works during our first game. Also, at any moment in the game, anybody can call for a 1-minute pause. This helps everybody to stay on the same page with what we allow to happen in our game, but also can be used to clarify rules. Everybody will also get a chance to tell me and/or the others what topic they would like to remove from the game during the first session. If you do not feel comfortable sharing such information with the group, or forgot to mention something, you can always message me privately in between the games, and I will be happy to help:)
