About the adventure
Set within the ancient trials established by this world's martial deity, this dungeon crawl experience will see a party of intrepid adventurers, motivated by the promise of wealth, ancient secrets, or glory. Expect a focus on combat, strategic gameplay, with traps corridors connecting trial chambers in a gauntlet experience. Though the game will be largely combat and mechanic oriented, there will be bits and pieces of lore, worldbuilding, and narrative interspliced in the intro and throughout the dungeon - though they will largely play a secondary role.

About me
Hi! I'm Stef, a GM of about seven years now, and a player for quite a few more than that. My experience with TTRPGs is almost entirely centered on D&D; predominantly 5e, but also a bit of 2e as a player. I've run four full length campaigns that have spanned a year at minimum, as well as a smaller campaign using the starter module of dnd 5e (Dragon of Icespire Peak) at my local gaming store. I deeply enjoy narrative focused gameplay, heavy political and (in character) interpersonal drama, but also the more tactical combat oriented side of the game. Games like the final fantasy franchise, especially 12, 14, and 16, as well as the Soulsborne games, have shaped a lot of my tastes in TTRPGs, and most of my games take a bit of thematic elements from the genre and vibes of these games, though I try to distinguish my own games from them well enough. Dungeons and Dragons has been my gateway drug into writing, worldbuilding, and just immersing myself into the world of being a creative and I adore it for that reason. I have a homebrew world that I've been working on since I started GMing which has been the primary setting of the vast majority of my games for just as long. Outside of D&D, I enjoy video games, creative writing (namely working on OCs, developing my world, and starting numerous novels which I probably will never finish), and uh... thinking about D&D.

Creating your character
We'll be using the 2014 version of dnd 5e, with the following rules; 1. Point Buy for statistics 2. Average Health beyond level 1 (which is max as usual) 3. Starting Equipment as given by background and class typically. Any of the races from the official core rule books (PHB, DMG, Volo's, Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, Fizban's Treasury of Dragons) are allowed - Supplemental material from other official settings is on a review basis. Please send that to me at least a day prior to the session for approval via Discord or Startplaying messaging. <3
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please have a Discord account and a Roll20, and contact me for further instructions. I'll have a Discord server for actually playing, and use Roll20 largely for battlemaps (You don't need to build your character sheet in the program; a physical or digital sheet is perfectly fine.) A decent, clear mic, and stable internet connections are required - but webcams are entirely optional (I won't be using one for this session, but if you would like to you are welcome to do so.)
What Stef brings to the table
There will be ambient music, custom made battlemaps, and a focus on tactical combat. Some light rule bending is perfectly fine, and if there's a set of preferred homebrew rules that everyone agrees upon prior to the session I am wholly willing to accommodate.
Homebrew rules
Rules will be played as close to RAW as possible for the sake of clarity and everyone being on the same page. If there's a strong preference for a specific set of homebrew rules prior to the session that everyone agrees to, I am willing to accommodate assuming that all players involved want it.

How Stef creates a safe table
In the discord channel, there will be a brief Lines and Veils document I'll send out to be filled out. This session shouldn't touch on any broadly upsetting topics as it is largely combat and mechanics oriented - however we will still take two breaks throughout during which players are more than encouraged to share any concerns they have with me.
