About the adventure

A white dragon has descended from the Sword Mountains, forcing monsters into the lowlands and throwing the frontier town of Phandalin into chaos. What begins as a simple call for help grows into a sweeping adventure across the Sword Coast—raging storms, ancient secrets, undead legions, and divine powers moving in the shadows. This full campaign takes you from Level 1 to Level 13 through Dragon of Icespire Peak, Storm Lord’s Wrath, Sleeping Dragon’s Wake, and Divine Contention, forming one connected, evolving story where your choices truly matter. This game welcomes both brand-new players and seasoned adventurers. Beginners get patient guidance, clear rules explanations, and help building their characters; experienced players get tactical encounters, meaningful roleplay, and a polished adventure path with escalating stakes. Whether you want to learn D&D for the first time or experience a full heroic journey from humble frontier defenders to gods-touched champions, this campaign gives everyone a place at the table.

About me

Hi, I’m Nick — known at the table as Knitter of Yarns. I’m a Dungeon Master with 5 years of experience guiding players through complete Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, from first-time adventurers to seasoned returnees. I specialize in taking many loose threads—characters, choices, combat, and story—and weaving them into a clear, cohesive adventure that stays engaging from the first session to the last. I’ve run full campaigns including Dragon of Icespire Peak, Curse of Strahd, and Dungeon of the Mad Mage. My focus is on making D&D approachable and rewarding without sacrificing depth. Sessions are structured, combat-forward, and relaxed, with an emphasis on clarity, pacing, and fairness so players always understand what’s happening and what their options are. There’s no pressure to perform or roleplay beyond your comfort level. You don’t need accents, dramatic monologues, or system mastery to belong at my table—just curiosity and a willingness to engage. You play your character your way; I handle the structure that keeps everything moving smoothly. I’m intentional about creating calm, supportive tables where questions are always welcome and everyone has space to participate. New groups can feel overwhelming, so I prioritize organization, respectful table flow, and clear explanations—especially for players who are new or returning after time away. My DM style is facilitative and steady. I keep sessions on track, adapt to different play styles, and make sure no one is rushed, talked over, or left behind. Even during intense combat, the goal is a table that feels welcoming, focused, and fun—where every thread matters. What you can expect: Beginner-friendly pacing with clear explanations Tactical, well-balanced combat with meaningful choices Fully prepared maps, tools, and smooth online play A patient, low-pressure environment that respects your comfort level If you’re new to D&D, returning after a break, or simply looking for a dependable DM who values clarity, fairness, and a well-woven story, I’d be glad to guide you through your next adventure.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created using point buy, standard array, or rolling—the method will be chosen together during Session Zero. All options from the Player’s Handbook (PHB) are fully allowed. Players may use material from any official 5E sourcebook, including subclasses, races, spells, feats, and backgrounds; however, all non-PHB options require DM approval to ensure party balance and campaign fit.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Come with a character concept you’re excited about and be ready to finalize your build during Session Zero. All dice rolls—including ability rolls, hit points, and in-game rolls—will be made publicly using Roll20’s built-in dice tools or another agreed-upon visible method. Gameplay will take place on Roll20, with voice chat hosted through Discord, so please ensure you have both accounts set up, a stable internet connection, and working audio before the session. Have your preferred character sheet system ready. Reading the basic 5E rules is helpful but not required—beginners are absolutely welcome. Most importantly, bring a spirit of cooperation, communication, and roleplay.

What Knitter of Yarns brings to the table

I provide a fully prepared and organized game experience on Roll20, including maps, dynamic lighting (when applicable), tokens, handouts, and all encounter management. I run voice chat through Discord, ensuring smooth communication during sessions. I offer clear guidance during Session Zero, help with character creation, and ongoing rules support for players of all experience levels. I bring a balanced mix of roleplay, exploration, and combat, along with story-driven pacing tailored to the group. My goal is to create a welcoming, fun, and engaging table where every player has their moment to shine.

Homebrew rules

I keep homebrew rules light to maintain balance and clarity at the table. The only homebrew rule in use is: Drinking a healing potion is a bonus action and the potion provides its full maximum healing value. (For example, a Potion of Healing heals for 10 HP automatically.) All other rules follow standard 5th Edition guidelines unless discussed and agreed upon during Session Zero.

Safety

How Knitter of Yarns creates a safe table

Player safety and comfort are a priority at my table. Before the campaign begins, I provide a Lines and Veils document for players to review and fill out. This helps establish clear boundaries around themes, content, and tone. I encourage players to update it anytime, and I treat all responses as confidential. During Session Zero, we will go over: Lines & Veils and content preferences Party expectations and table etiquette Tone (heroic, dark, humorous, etc.) Allowable character options Safety tools (X, N, and O signals) How to communicate concerns mid-campaign For in-game safety, I use digital X, N, and O tools through Roll20 and Discord: X = Stop immediately; the content is uncomfortable or harmful. N = Warning sign; steer away from the current direction. O = Everything is okay; keep going. Players may also send a private Discord message at any time if they prefer discreet communication. All stops and adjustments are respected without question or explanation required. After each session, I provide aftercare through a short debrief in Discord—checking in, addressing anything that felt heavy, clarifying rules, and ensuring everyone leaves on a positive note. My goal is to create a welcoming, respectful environment where players can immerse themselves confidently and comfortably.
