About the adventure
Geolth is a world where each god has created its own domain as a sort of continent. Players will travel across these continents. They will meet the denizens of each domain, go on diplomatic missions, and search for the source of the divine decay. Games may be focused on rebuilding civilizations and encouraging their community to thrive. Others may take a more adventurous route and travel the world. Still others may have more dastardly desires. This sort of Play-By-Post game is for those who want to dig deep into the lore of an ancient world. It will be roleplay-focused, as well as encouraging players to befriend NPCs and build communities. This game is for players who enjoy high fantasy and darker stories with a cheery exterior. It is also meant for those who may not have the time, energy, or ability to play over voice and video. Players pay once a month (or once every other week if requested). I will respond at least once a day during weekdays. More if my responses are short or for combat. Once the first payment is made, session zero begins. We discuss the game, where we would like the story to go, character and player expectations, and any limits or aids my players may need. Character creation also happens during this time. Once characters are made, we begin. I type out a starter post focused around whatever realm the character starts in. Players will not have word count expectations, although the more you give, the more I can return. If players do not respond, then I may not be able to give my daily response. If I miss a day, I will make up for it on subsequent days. If a player misses a day, I will do my best to make up for it on subsequent days. If a player in a group setting does not respond for several days, they will be skipped. The goal is to reach 2 sessions' worth of story progress across one month. More details can be found in the "Preparation" section.

About me
Howdy! I'm Alex (he/him), a trans man from Georgia. I work as a ghost writer and commission author, which has allowed me years of experience in world-building and storytelling. My BFA is in Acting for Stage and Screen. I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons for over 12 years, with a general focus on D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder 1st Edition. These days, I tend to DM 5th Edition and Pathfinder, though I have finished two campaigns in other systems. I love writing, gardening, gaming, and group storytelling.

Creating your character
Characters will be made in D&Dbeyond. Rolls will be made there as well. A backstory sheet will be offered, but not required to fill out. Characters will start at level 3. Stats will be point buy. In addition to starting gear, players also receive 250 gp, one common magic item, and one uncommon magic item.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A player will join the game's Discord, D&D Beyond, and Roll20. Once there, they will be given help making a character as needed. Backstory building is heavily encouraged.
What Alex brings to the table
Given this is a Play-By-Post game, players can expect a more narrative-focused game. Roleplay and description will be slightly more emphasized. Solo Players can expect slightly longer posts to make up for a lack of party, and may receive a DM player character (DMPC) to help fill out their squad. Players may expect at least one response from me every weekday. If I miss a response on any given day, then I will make up for it on the following day. There is a good chance that I will respond more than that, particularly when I post shorter responses or during combat. Solo players will be asked a $5 upcharge, as it requires more time to prepare and play out their games. This does not apply to games meant for a full party that currently only have one player. As a DM, I can provide music recommendations, occasional reference pictures, battle maps, and disability accommodations as needed. I am an author/ghost writer as my day job, with several published works. Because of this (and years of roleplay experience), I can confidently say that I can create a rich, colorful world with written storytelling. I am much more Rule-Of-Cool. While I allow homebrew, I must check it to ensure it is fair to use. I like to make my players feel awesome, which I often lean into when I make homebrew items. The stories I tell are dark fantasy. My goal is to create moral, physical, and emotional problems to push your character to grow as a person.
Homebrew rules
The world is homebrew. I will provide some homebrew items and races. Players may request homebrew, but I must approve it before it is used.

How Alex creates a safe table
I encourage players to share their limits and veils during the beginning and throughout the game. A "session zero" is included for this game. It is a discussion involving introductions, expectations, reiterating how the Play-By-Post format functions, and discussing story themes/progression. I am a disability and queer friendly dungeon master.
