About the adventure

Find and Restore the Lost Magic of the Forge of Spells! The threads of fate bind unlikely allies together to rediscover forgotten treasure within the mythical Wave Echo Cave as they work together to uncover a dangerous plot lurking beneath the surface. This campaign is for adventurers that want to begin their journey within the Forgotten Realms through a solid adventure that aims to establish their characters in the greater world beyond. To find the Lost Mines, adventurers will need to keep their wits about them as they discover not only the cave's location, but aspects of themselves that they hadn't foreseen. In the end, history will be made- but whether for fortune or ruin- remains on these new heroes' shoulders. Background: At the foot of the Sword Mountains, a small settlement called Phandalin bravely stands against the challenges of the wilds. Somewhere within the nearby hills, an ancient magical mine, the Wave Echo Cave, lies in wait to be uncovered. You have been hired to help a budding prospector achieve his dreams of locating this long-lost cave, with hopes of unlocking its magical secrets, and perhaps reactivate the legendary Forge of Spells rumored to dwell deep within. Phandalin is a modest town with big dreams- the perfect place to start a new career, escape from a shadowy past, or discover newfound fortune. Yet beneath this budding exterior, lies something more sinister- whispers of the Return of the Dragons, a primordial force heralded by their devoted servants that wish to usher in a new draconic age. Can the Mines truly be restored to its former glory, or will it forever be lost to history? 🗡️Venture across the immersive and scenic world of Dungeons and Dragons, with adventure and roleplay at the forefront of an engaging high-fantasy experience. Enjoy a balanced amount of combat and roleplaying, with the option for creative problem solving against challenging obstacles. 💎 Experience a heavily modified run of the renowned starter module, Lost Mines of Phandelver- a perfect adventure for players just starting out on their D&D journey, or even for advanced players that wish to forge bonds with a close-knit party. 🏡 Shape the fate of Phandalin with choices that could help an upstart town become a regional landmark among the Swordcoast. Establish oneself as a prominent name in the town's history, with the potential for nobility awaiting those that play their cards right. 🎨 Enjoy beautiful artwork, both for NPCs and Maps. Listen to personally curated playlists that add dramatic flair to every step of the game, as well as unique accents and voices for each major character. 🎭 Roleplay to your heart's content with backstories closely tied to the world's events, with opportunities for out-of-session roleplay to help flesh out your connections to the world, or build new ones. Whether you're new or seasoned, combat or roleplay-driven-this campaign has it all. Sign up now for a thrilling adventure and epic tales!

About me

Greetings! You can call me Ghost. I'm an avid fan of roleplaying, and have loved D&D ever since I first picked up a set of dice back in high school. My passion for the hobby has followed me throughout every aspect of my life, and I owe many of my relationships, experiences, and fondest memories to this wonderful game. I've successfully ran 3 separate year-long campaigns to completion, and am continuing to hone my skills as a Dungeon Master to this day. Beyond this, I also have hundreds of hours running various one-shot modules both in the Adventurers' League format, and across personal homebrew games. I try to resolve conflicts amicably between players should any arise, and am no stranger to having to deal with awkward situations or disruptive attitudes. I believe D&D is meant to be enjoyed, first and foremost, though I understand that sometimes other's ideas of fun might conflict. In cases like these, you'll find that I take the initiative to handle out of game problems and find a solution that hopes to keep everyone involved happy. On this note, it's important to me that we discuss our boundaries and sensitive topics during Session 0, so that nothing comes as a surprise down the line.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players may participate in a Session 0 for character generation, where I can help them make their characters or give suggestions on how to write their backstories. Characters and the game will both be run using the D&D 5e 2014 ruleset, and will be made with Point Buy or Standard Array. Character sheets will be created and hosted on Roll20. This allows me to assist with any potential troubleshooting. I can easily teach how to use and create characters for newcomers to the VTT. Most official resources canon to the Forgotten Realms will be available for character creation (homebrew available upon review), and characters also begin with a Lvl 1 "half feat", alongside their choice of various bonuses tailor made for my campaign. The use of Tasha's Custom Origins and the book Monsters of the Multiverse will not be featured.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A basic understanding of D&D 5e and your character's abilities will help make games run smoothly, of course I’m always willing to help players that are still learning how to play. Beyond that, players will only need to prepare the following: 🔹 Good quality microphone 🔹 Free accounts for both Roll20.net and Discord.com 🔹 A mindset to support your fellow partymates and work together

What Ghost brings to the table

My games will be consistent. Barring illnesses or emergencies, this will be a game that is guaranteed to run every week, on time, every time. In this campaign, you can expect an excellently written adventure that ties in your character's personal backstory, premium quality maps and artwork, a well organized Discord server, a complete understanding of the system, an easily understandable set of House Rules, improvisational skills, and voice acting for NPCs. I aim for quality above all else, ensuring thorough knowledge of the system and virtual tabletop, a fully prepared campaign that I have read and studied from start to finish (no sight reading), and a friendly and supportive, professional attitude that knows how to balance positivity without being patronizing towards my players.

Homebrew rules

Standard flanking will be used, both for player characters and enemies, incentivizing strategic movement. Natural 1/20s will auto succeed/fail, to emphasize both heroic and unlucky moments. Drinking a potion requires an action.

Safety

How Ghost creates a safe table

We will have a session zero using the Lines and Veils system to identify what topics to avoid. After games, we'll take a few minutes to go over the game and discuss what we enjoyed and what could have been improved on. Short breaks will be called for mid-session to allow everyone time to pause and attend to personal matters. I aim to provide a safe, inclusive environment. No behavior or language that makes other players feel unwelcome, unsafe, or unable to participate in the game will be tolerated. My games are relatively lighthearted, but sensitive topics may occasionally be mentioned as part of the background to the adventure. D&D is a combat heavy game, so expect a level of violence and gore, but nothing too graphic.
