About the adventure
Something strange is stirring in the shadows. What begins as a simple investigation from an odd group of monster hunters quickly spirals into a nightmare that could spell the end of the world. A missing person in a quiet town, a string of impossible incidents no one can explain, and whispers of creatures lurking in the shadows that shouldn’t exist all point to something far bigger than anyone expected. The only thing standing in the way of an ancient, world-ending horror is this band of monster hunters. Over the course of this mini campaign, players will uncover dark secrets, clash with supernatural threats, and make choices that shape the fate of more than just themselves. Every clue will drag them deeper into a web of conspiracies, eldritch forces, and dangerous bargains they've never experienced. This is a story about unlikely heroes under impossible odds, and what happens when they're up against the end of the world. Whether you’re the seasoned hunter who’s seen it all or the newcomer who’s stumbled into the fight by accident, this campaign will test your courage, your bonds with each other, and your ability to stare down the darkness without blinking. It's not just about whether or not you can stop it, but will you have what it takes to make the sacrifices to do it?

About me
Just starting out being a DM on StartPlaying. I love TTRPGs. They bring me a lot of joy. I love co-creating with players when possible, as it makes it so much more of an investment. I play: - D&D 5e - Honey Heist - Monster of the Week - Never Stop Blowing Up! - Outgunned - Brindlewood Bay - Indie TTRPGs - Masks - The Last Caravan & many more given the opportunity to read new systems. Give playing with me a shot! It'll be cheap or free, and hopefully fun with a touch of drama, emotional growth, and roleplay opportunities.

Creating your character
Character playbooks, character names and some backstory can be generated ahead of time. Playbooks are available for download here: https://evilhat.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Monster-of-the-Week-Revised-Playbooks-Formfillable.pdf First session will be a FREE session zero and campaign intro to allow going through the process of building out the hunters and getting the player background connections. Come prepared to talk about your backstory, and add how your backstory could connect to another player. We will also go over rules basics, based on your level of familiarity with the game. This game can be for experienced MOTW players, and new players too!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Fillable PDF sheets for your character: https://evilhat.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Monster-of-the-Week-Revised-Playbooks-Formfillable.pdf Pick a couple of different character playbooks that you think look good, so we can make the best blend of monster hunters! We will likely play over Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
What BillPlaysRPGs brings to the table
I'm all about the rule of cool and want people to have fun, get a chance to be creative, and respect the other players while doing so! Dark comedy, drama, and horror will work for this campaign! this is my first time on Startplaying, so I'm coming into this, offering some free play for a handful of players. There might be some ambient music, I may attempt some bad accents and I encourage you all to do the same!
Homebrew rules
I like to follow the basics in the Monster of the Weeks rules, but rule of cool is considered in this system.
