About the adventure

In the rural township of Oasis, law is as reliable as the coin in your pocket. Though the people are hardy and the land is amenable, times are tough and security has been left in the hands of a land baron from the big city. Locals have been speaking out against him, but the law isn't what it used to be. When a local revolutionary goes missing, it is up to the heroes to discover what happened and how it ties to new threats to the town. Hello everyone and welcome to Daggerheart, a roleplaying game of magic and heroic, heartfelt adventure. In this game, we will be covering the basics of how to play Daggerheart while playing through a short adventure in the wild west town of Oasis. If you are looking for vibes along the lines of Firefly, the Borderlands game series, and old westerns, this will be the perfect introduction to this new system. In this game we will cover: - how to build a character - how hope and fear are generated by and affect future rolls and circumstances - how your characters, backgrounds and player dynamics will affect the ongoing story - a fun, simple story of dark times in a town in the middle of nowhere So, if you are looking for an easy way to guide you into the Daggerheart system, this is the game for you.

About me

Looking for the low-level to high-level campaign that you've never been able to complete? Hi! My name is Eli and I'm a professional dungeon master. I run long-term campaigns with a heavy emphasis on roleplay and challenging combat. I like games where you really get to know your character and the world around you, but also feel powerful and engaged when swords flash and magic erupts. My preferred system is Pathfinder 2e, but most of my experience is with Pathfinder 1e and D&D 5th edition. I also put a focus on memorable NPCs -- people with distinctive voices built by their background and worldview. That goes double for antagonists; you will love to hate the enemies that stand in your way. But the game is about your characters. Every game that I GM should feel like the characters already live in the world and their background has affected how the world reacts to them. Even in pre-published adventures, your character changes everything. And I always place player enjoyment first. This is your game: you should feel empowered, included and accepted no matter who you are. So, what do you say? Want to go on an adventure?

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen during the first session. We will walk through all aspects of your character sheet and how they fit into the mechanics. We will work at the pace of all of the players to be sure that everyone understands.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

When you join the game, you will be given an invite to a Discord server. Please join it and introduce yourself to the rest of the party. You will also need to sign up for The Forge, which hosts our VTT server. Anyone who is unfamiliar with Foundry VTT can set up a time with the GM to run through the basics. As Foundry does some of the automation for the game, it will make things easier over time.

What Elijah brings to the table

When I run games, I put a focus on interesting characters in fantastical situations. While the main focus of this game is learning how to play Daggerheart, I will also be using this system to showcase how fluid this game can be. I generally play music from two sources: Tabletop RPG Music and Tabletop Audio. All of my NPCs have distinctive voices and personalities. It is very important in my games that a certain level of immersion is there to make it easier for you to play your characters. It is never required for players to use character voices. Any maps made for this game will be made by me using Dungeondraft and any in-between areas will be using background art sourced from Czepeku Scenes. If anyone needs any assistance with navigating Foundry VTT, I will also make it a priority that people feel comfortable navigating so all that you have to focus on playing your character.
