About the adventure
This game is designed with new players or players with limited experience looking to play and have fun in D&D. Monmount University serves as the launching point for the campaign as well as an in-world resource for players. Learning while playing, players will explore the world of Etemis while using Monmount as their home base.

About me
I've been playing D&D (specifically 5th edition) for just over 10 years now, getting my start one faithful day when a college friend's party booted a guy from their game after over indulging on Texas Roadhouse rolls and making a mess during game night (thanks stranger!). I started my GMing adventure not soon after and have completed three long form campaigns, each going for over 3+ years, and an untold number of one-shots. I love introducing new players to my favorite hobby. Outside of D&D 5th edition, I have played in a good number of Call of Cthulhu campaigns, and even run a few one-shots myself. As much as I hold fond memories of the CoC system, D&D will always be my true TTRPG love.

What Chris brings to the table
I have a very open and player-focused style. The rules of D&D are a guideline, malleable within reason. You won't get a yes 100% of the time, but if it makes things more interesting and fun for everyone involved, let's give it a try. Combat operates in a similar fashion. There are rules yes, but there are ways to stay close to the rules while also making combat more dynamic and interesting outside of "I go here, I attack, I deal damage, turn over". Over the years I've spent time making combat more interesting to keep everyone involved even when it's not there turn, and also make each combat feel unique. Music is used for ambiance and combat as well.
Homebrew rules
Self administrating a potion is a bonus action, using it on someone else requires an action. Critical hits are max roll plus rolled damage. More options on death saving throw turns. You can take an auto fail to do an action OR bonus action instead. Self healing and spell casting can be attempted, but has chance to fail. Optional modified attunement rules for magical items. Can be instantly attuned instead of the usual short rest by taking temporary reductions to your maximum HP.

How Chris creates a safe table
I keep a very open door for dialogue with all my tables and players to go over what they liked, disliked, what they want to see more of, etc. I do not tolerate and form of disrespect or bullying at my tables, we're all here to have fun. Session 0 covers 99% of the things expected for the game, with the 1% left to things that may change as time goes on that players may decide they actually don't like or are actually okay with.
