About the adventure

This campaign is a remixed run though of the original Season of the Open Road campaign setting for Pathfinder Society. This was the organized play setting and ruleset, but in this extended campaign we will be stepping away and using modern Pathfinder 2E rules as well as allow for the use of any rulebook, Ancestry, and Classes to spice up the adventure! Each player will start at level 1, and we will work our way though the created modules and experience the entire story! Players are welcome to play a singe character or change characters at will between modules to try different perspectives and tell new stories. This campaign is welcome to new players, who wish to experience the story fresh in a welcoming setting or for those who have seen the story, but want to look at it with a new perspective. This campaign will not be limited like the traditional Pathfinder Society character creation rules, but it will not be a sanctioned campaign and characters will not be compatible with Organized Play

About me

Hello! My name is Justin, and I’ve been running tabletop RPGs as a Game Master for nearly 15 years. I began hosting casual games with friends right after high school as a way for us to stay connected while starting our adult lives in college and work. RPGs quickly became a meaningful way for me to help people socialize, bond, and create unforgettable moments—and that passion has only grown. In recent years, I’ve stepped outside my comfort zone to Dungeon Master at events like Playthrough Gaming Convention in Raleigh, and I’m excited to continue expanding into new conventions and opportunities. When I’m not behind the GM screen, I’m diving into other fantasy and sci-fi worlds. I’m a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson, Star Trek, World of Warcraft, and Final Fantasy, so my imagination draws from a wide range of settings and inspirations that often spill into my sessions. I love crafting fun, lighthearted adventures that make players laugh, relax, and feel at home. My philosophy is simple: we’re here to share a great story, and my job is to make sure you leave with a smile and memorable moments you’ll want to tell your friends and coworkers about. Gaming should always be a fun, safe space, and I’m committed to creating the best possible experience for everyone who joins my table.

Character creation

Creating your character

Users are allowed to use any Ancestry, Class and Background created in official Paizo books. Characters will be created at Level 1 for the start of the campaign and will be leveled up as needed to fit the pace of the modules. Any players joining later, or changing characters will be allowed to match the group's level to keep things fair. If you have never played Pathfinder or unfamiliar with creating characters, you can schedule a free Session 0 with the dungeon master to workshop a character. It is encouraged that any character background or personality is friendly, and not actively hostile to other Player Characters or NPCs. Evil characters are welcome, but only if they are played with respect to the overall goal of the group and not made to discourage Roleplay for others. Game Master has the right to veto any bad behavior if one does choose a darker storyline.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Roll20 will be used for the Tabletop system of choice to play the game. Discord will be used as our Audio software so we can communicate in text or in voice calls.

What Justin brings to the table

Players can expect the game to shape around their decisions and stray away from the written model if it means expanding their lore, stories, or taking a break from the main plot. I will not railroad the players to sticking to the book as written and will allow time to create new stories or NPCs if that is enjoyable to the group. I will do my best to keep things moving and allow everyone time in the spotlight so not one person determines the story for everyone. In my campaigns, I love to give characters voices when possible. This means that there will be times for silly adlibbed moments where players can improv with the NPCs and create fun and interesting moments. I like to run games with "Rule of Cool" in mind. This means if there is a moment that would be more fun at the cost of ignoring or changing a rule, I will lean on that. This also means that if there are times when rules are confusing or don't make sense, we will adjust it to keep the game moving forward.

Homebrew rules

We will be playing the modules as Written, but character creation will not follow the standard Pathfinder Society restrictions and all written content will be allowed. Any discrepancy between the original rules and the Second Edition Errata's will always lean on the side of of new rules to keep consistency

Safety

How Justin creates a safe table

Sessions will allow players to use the X, N & O system at any time during the game session without question from the Dungeon Master. Players can also call out if a moment in the Campaign is uncomfortable, privately with the DM in messages, without judgment, and it will be added into session prep to edit or avoid any strong themes throughout the game. There will always be time for breaks to allow players to stretch and take a moment during the game. At the end of each session, there will be a check-in with players to talk about the adventure as a whole or how the game went. This will allow everyone to find things they enjoyed, things that can be better, or things that the DM or other players may need to avoid, as it made for unfair or uncomfortable moments
