About the adventure

The final death of a shadow wizard ended the Age of Adornment, and thus began the seventh age, 421 years ago. In the north, Roland the Radiant became the advisor of the child-king of Solar. He used the shadow mage events as an excuse for banning arcane magic in the empire, and made worshipping of Sun God the main religion. Arcane practitioners fled the cities as the dwarves from The Mines help Roland secure this despotic regime. In the south, refugee crisis arose. Erethrim councelors tried to turn this into an opportunity, gave everyone a place to stay and impose taxes on them; though the burden fell mostly on the country folk. You are first level adventurers, signed a contract to deliver a carriage safely from Newport to the village of Erien. Upon delivery, you will be paid fifty gold pieces per person, by Baron Wilhelm Grisk, the village governor. You don't know each other yet, but they might be the only ones to trust in this wide world. Will you be able to achieve your goals, whatever they may be?

About me

I have been running D&D games since 2005 on-and-off, reading fantasy literature as a hobby, watching the Lord of the Rings annually, and introducing new players to table-top games everywhere I go. Telling stories has always been my favourite activity among friends and family, so role playing seems to be the next evolutionary step. Studied computer science in college, working as a tourism agent currently.

Character creation

Creating your character

You can create your character using 5.5e rules using point-buy. Everything published is available, just please refrain using Unearthed Arcana classes/subclasses/feats. We can also create your characters in a free session 0, same things apply. That's also where we go step by step through your pre-created characters to make sure everyone's on the same page. D&D Beyond or paper sheets are perfectly fine, just know your character, that's all.

The current party

Everything on the Player's Handbook is on the table. If you want to use older books like Tasha's or Xanathar's, that's also possible. If you really want to homebrew something, we can talk about it. Please try to stay clear of Unearthed Arcana. You don't need to create a "balanced party" which contains a tank, a dedicated healer, etc. We can balance the game according to your characters. Also, any backstory is appreciated. Just please don't send me a novel to read :D

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using Telegram/Discord for video calls. Maps, dice, and music etc. will be on Owlbear Rodeo, which doesn't need an account or an app.

What Reha brings to the table

We use maps for combat encounters. There will be ambient music which you can turn off if you'd like. I like to make voices for my NPCs but you don't have to (you're welcome to do it).

Homebrew rules

Rules as written most of the time, rule of cool is welcome.

Safety

How Reha creates a safe table

We can discuss Veils and Lines at session 0. I want everyone to feel comfortable and safe at the table. Of course, there will be some violence and blood, but I like to keep the gore level pretty mild. Brothels and courtesans exist in the world, but we won't describe them during the game, it will be off-screen. Other than that, feel free to use X-card however you like.
