About the adventure
A beloved classic of 3rd edition D&D, Red Hand of Doom returns—reimagined in the heroic, tactical style of Draw Steel. This campaign is an ideal way for new players to learn the rules, starting off with low-stakes fun and slowly ramping up as we master the system. We’ll begin with a small starter adventure to get to know your characters and the region. But don’t get too comfortable… the shadow of war is already on the horizon. Join this campaign if you want to: ⚔️ Become a noble hero fighting to protect the innocent 👊 Experience epic, tactical battles every session 🗺️ Explore perilous and mysterious environments 💬 Navigate tense negotiations between rival nations 🐲 Face dragons, giants, a lich—and countless other threats More campaign details. - Elsir Vale is a relatively small valley area set between three mountain ranges. It has about a half-dozen human-dominated villages and a major city, Brindol. Many other communities, such as dwarves, wode elves, and lizardfolk, fill in the areas surrounding human civilization. - One of these groups--composed of Hobgoblins, Goblins, and Bugbears--makes up the enemy force, uniting to start this war. -Our party of heroes will start as small-time adventurers helping a small village and will quickly rise to true heroes that all the people of Elsir Vale depend on.

About me
I'm a D&D Dungeon Mistress of nearly 10 years, playing since early high school. I fell in love with RPGs because I absolutely love roleplaying as a way to get into the minds and emotions of others. I get so much joy out of creating dramatic situations and difficult choices for my players. Because of this, I've been leaning further into the horror genre more lately. If that's something you're into, then I'm your girl! 😉 My biggest DM inspirations are Matt Colville and Monty Martin. Matt Colville taught me most of what I know with his Running The Game series, including the essence of great roleplay and seeing drama as the core of the game. Monty Martin and his Dungeons of Drakkenheim campaign are both so amazing, with grotesque horror balanced perfectly against lighthearted humor

Creating your character
We will make characters together during the first session, since this is likely everyone's first time playing. It should be a relatively simple process, since we're starting at 1st level! No character options are outright banned, but options that fit well in a medieval fantasy setting will be strongly encouraged.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Join the Discord server! We're currently using Owlbear Rodeo as a VTT, but if the Codex VTT is finished before the campaign ends, we'll switch to that. You can go ahead and glance at the character options as well to get a feel for what you might like. Finding a few options for character art can also be a good jumping-off point.
What Jaiden brings to the table
I bring the full rulebooks, and you'll have free access to the Hero book (not the monster one). I also bring music playlists, art handouts, and character voices. Since it's a new game, we'll try to stick to rules-as-written as closely as possible.
Homebrew rules
There is potential for some warfare rules late into the campaign. This is a way to determine the outcome of large battles, but our use of it will depend on player interest.

How Jaiden creates a safe table
We'll start with a session zero to go over expectations, the safety tools (detailed below), and make sure we're all a good fit. I'm always open to player feedback and concerns.
