About the adventure

This is an introduction to Dungeons and Dragons and will be for new players, or players new to 5th edition. You find yourselves in the small town of Phandalin, a small town nestled in the foothills of the Sword Mountains. The residents of the town are being terrorized by creatures from the mountain that have been displaced by a new threat. A white dragon. The dragon has forced others off the mountain and into the settled region. They now look to adventurers to help rescue and notify others in the surrounding region and to deal with this new threat.

About me

I want to begin with saying that my table is open to anyone regardless of gender, culture or race and as a LGBTQ+ ally I provide an open and inviting table for all who wish to play. My table has been and will always be a safe place. There is no room for hatred or bigotry and I have Zero Tolerance for personal attacks. Now that being said, here is a little about me. I have been playing TTRPGs since the late 80's, starting with DnD 2e. Since then, I have played other systems such as Werewolf, 13th Age, Shadowrun, Pathfinder, Star Trek, Star Wars, Fallout and Witcher. I started being a DM around 20 years ago. The campaigns that I run are complete sandbox and are character-centric, where the actions of the characters will have an impact (both positive and negative) on the world around them. I have been called a 'high maintenance' GM because I go above and beyond and ask a lot of questions. I will put as much into the campaign and your character's story as you do. If you want to acquire an ability, item, etc, I will work with you to craft a story around it and make it happen during the session or a side session. I run all types of games and entertain to my players and what they want, but you will find a very good mix of RP, combat and puzzles. I will always work with the players to find out their needs so that everyone gets the most out of playing.

Character creation

Creating your character

SESSION 0 WILL BE A FREE SESSION Character Creation will occur during Session 0 Acceptable Materials Material from the core rulebooks are acceptable and does not need GM approval, with exception for Eberron Campaign Setting and Acquisitions Inc. Material from these sources cannot be used for character generation. Material from Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting maybe used with GM approval. The following, regardless of source, is not allowed. Firearms Explosives Renaissance Era Modern Era Futuristic Era Ability Scores Characters are created with rolled ability scores. Ability score generation consist of rolling 4d6, drop the lowest die. Set of 6 scores that can be distributed as you see fit. You can scrap the set at any time, but only 3 times. The fourth set must be kept unless it is deemed as unplayable. Alignment Any alignment is allowed, however, 'Chaotic Stupid' will not be tolerated and actions will have consequences. Experience Experience will use the Milestone System. Characters will level up with campaign milestones are met. Alternative individual rewards will be provided to characters when they reach character developmental milestones. Multiclassing Multiclassing is an option. However, there needs to be a story reason behind it and I need to know about it ahead of time. So something like if a rogue wanted to multiclass as a fighter. Where, why and from whom did he get his martial training from would need to be in your backstory. Alternatively, there can be an in-game event that could occur. That same rogue could get lessons from the party's fighter and work with them to get training. Some classes, like druid, cleric or monk, would need to get training from some sort of holy site or monastery. Again, either in the backstory or an in-game event. For something like multiclassing as a warlock. This would be more of an in-game event as it pertains to a transaction in a time of need. For this adventure, there will be premade characters available of each character class.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A private discord server will be created for this campaign, which will be used for communication and voice, so you will need to have a Discord account. Games will utilize FoundryVTT, but are hosted on The Forge. A free Forge account will also be required. https://forge-vtt.com/

What LordEggNutz (Jeremy) brings to the table

As a GM, I create custom sandbox games that are character centric, meaning that your characters actions affect the world around them. The actions, both good and bad, past and present, will have future implications. Your character's backstory will be used against them. Things your character says and does during sessions, or anything else deemed as "in character" may or may not be used as well. As a GM, I feel it is my job to work with everyone that is at the table to create a great story. I am open to working with nearly any concept and any type of story, all I ask is that we work together. I have been called a 'high maintenance' GM because I go above and beyond and ask a lot of questions. I will put as much into the campaign and your character's story as you do. If you want to acquire an ability, item, etc, I will work with you to craft a story around it and make it happen during the session or a side session. I provide Character Creation Clinics where I help with the following * Assistance with creating and fleshing out characters. * Character advancement planning * I allow players to make minor changes (the concept must remain the same) after a few sessions of playing. For example, if you decide to shift a few skills around or decide that the feat you originally chose just doesn't fit after all. They can be swapped out for others that fit the core concept better. I do believe in the Rule of Cool and the statement "Live by the Dice, Die by the Dice. All of my combat rolls are open and visible. You will see the rolls and the damage taken. I also create custom maps; city/town maps, regional maps, world maps and battlemaps are all custom made.

Homebrew rules

I do have a few house rules, which are detailed on the linked google sheet. This is a living document as situations may arise that a new rule may need to be created. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SHVhxuNx8ITN_R69EdXg1NepVs47uNu163YjzRM2g94/edit?usp=sharing I also have my GM Manifesto, where I detail my personal rules and what is expected from both GM and Players. https://docs.google.com/document/d/12KGH7-kFMb64bWc3QMhO95xSedhvN-6Mcy3fyFMkE4M/edit?usp=sharing

Safety

How LordEggNutz (Jeremy) creates a safe table

First and Foremost. My table is open to all and hate has no place here. I am an LGBTQIA+ ally and you are welcome and safe. I will NOT tolerate any personal attacks against players. Any such actions will result in immediate removal. I will go over additional details during Session 0, including my open door policy and the usage of Lines and Veils adn X,N,O cards. There are some topics that will never occur in any of my games. * Sexual assault of any kind * Violence against children -- children may die during the course of gameplay, but only the result of such action, such as stumbling over their bodies. Their actual deaths will be done behind the scenes. * Any real-world topics revolving around politics, sexual identity, homo/transphobia, etc will not be present. * IRL racism -- Fantasy racism, such as hatred of elves or dwarves, will still be present in some degree. If topics or subjects occur that you are not comfortable with, then please let me know and I will change things. There will be no judgements, reprisals or any other negative impact in any way shape or form.
