About the adventure
In your isolated town of Willowshore, nestled within the forests of Shenmen in Tian Xia, the veil between living and dead begins to thin. Along with the increased frequency of daily haunts and supernatural frights, summer also brings the yearly renewal of the Festival of Ghosts, an ancient tradition meant to trick the ghosts of Shenmen into believing that Willowshore had already been terrorized. If performed well enough, the Festival of Ghosts will encourage the forest's otherworldly inhabitants to overlook and pass Willowshore in their summer of horror. A small group including you and others born here in Willowshore has been chosen to perform the role of captives to the ghosts. You and your fellow townsfolk perform the role and are taken into the woods by those performing the roles of monsters, ghosts, and other haunts. The spiritual safety of nearby peach trees provides a comfortable campsite for the night. When morning arrives, however, you find that Willowshore's surrounding Hinterlands have changed, and that the Festival of Ghosts may have failed to provide the protection your village seeks. This campaign brings together eerie folklore, traditional horror, imaginative fantasy beautifully and respectfully crafted from various real-world Asian cultures, and haunting supernatural mystery. Will you bring hope to a cursed town, or will you vanish into legend with the rest of Willowshore’s ghosts? *Note: Please keep in mind that this adventure leans heavily into the genre of horror.

About me
Hi all! I’m Emma, the Game Master behind Cozy Critical, a space where I hope to bring collaboration, cozy fun, and epic adventure together for people's enjoyment. Tabletop games provide a restful outlet that helps us disconnect from the real world for a little while, and I hope that my games can provide that for you! Before continuing, please know that you can also find me at cozycritical.carrd.co ! With over 5 years as a GM, 7 years playing TTRPGs, 6 years as a middle school science teacher, and 3 years in higher education I bring rich game mechanics together with an environment where players can feel comfortable learning new systems and trying new things. My goal is to create welcoming games that blend character development, emotional fantasy adventure arcs, and hopefully the right amount of chaos and silliness. Between a professional virtual tabletop setup and my past experience leading fantasy games, streaming TTRPGs, podcasting, and performing theater, I offer a strong foundation for us to build something special at the table. Whether you are new to TTRPGs or have played longer than I have, I hope you'll join me for some collaborative fun. Thanks so much, and I look forward to telling unforgettable stories together 💫

Creating your character
Characters will be created together during a free Session 0! Please think of a broader concept for the type of character you wish to create in the meantime. This game will also utilize the Free Archetype, Ancestry Paragon, and Gradual Ability Boost variant rules! This setting is very flexible and remains open for any ancestry, class, and background you would like to choose for your character. This region is heavily inspired by traditional Asian cultures and folklore. If you wish to learn more about character creation in Pathfinder 2E, check out the online rule-set at https://2e.aonprd.com/PlayersGuide.aspx
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Once you sign up for the game, I will share a Discord server invitation link with you :) All of the links you will need to explore the rule-set, to set up an account on our Virtual Tabletop, and to begin planning a character concept will be located in the Discord server.
What Jamie Emma brings to the table
I will take care of the world-building, NPC voices, in-game music, virtual tabletop, rules management, and player engagement. All I need from you is a willingness to explore the setting and build a story together!
Homebrew rules
I do not use any homebrew mechanics, but I do tend to weave homebrew story elements into pre-written adventure paths, as I feel that this helps to better connect player characters to the adventure.
