About the adventure
Hey everyone, As 2025 comes to a close, I want to say thank you for all the support and the amazing games we’ve shared over the past two years. We’ve made great friends, saved the world (on several occasions), and even shed a few tears along the way. So, as a small token of appreciation, let’s kick off 2026 with some new adventures. All BATTLEGROUNDS Online D&D games will be free to play throughout the month of January 2026. If you know someone who’s been wanting to jump into D&D — or if you’ve been itching to start fresh with a new character or a new group — January is the perfect time to do it. Regular $10 per session games will resume in February 2026, but for now, let’s celebrate the New Year with some free adventures together. Thank you all again — I truly look forward to continuing our adventures together!

Creating your character
Create your character on D&D Beyond (XP-based and make sure to set it to "public"). We'll download it into an online token in FoundryVTT. Your character portrait will become your token. The game is open to any character class/species, just make sure it's "D&D" legal.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a desktop/laptop computer (This doesn't work on a phone or tablet). We're playing on FoundryVTT (it's the best). You'll need Discord to talk with us (headset recommended). Our channel is BattlegroundsVTT#3291 You'll need a D&D Beyond account to create your characters. (free) You'll need a player account (free) on forge-vtt.com Looking forward to seeing you online!
What BATTLEGROUNDS brings to the table
We play on FoundryVTT (it's the best). Great looking maps, cool looking character tokens and, occasionally, awesome music. On my table, we utilize the Rule of Cool. If you want to do/try something that you think will make the game "awesomer" (and it doesn't ridiculously break the rules) I say we try it and see what happens!
Homebrew rules
Drinking a Healing Potion as a Bonus Action = you roll for healing. Drinking a Healing Potion as an Action = Full Healing.

How BATTLEGROUNDS creates a safe table
We're all adults, and I expect we'll treat each other like adults. My philosophy is that this is a game, and it's supposed to be fun. We will try to take a quick five-minute break every hour or so, depending on game pacing, to give everyone a chance to get up, get a drink of water, use the bathroom, etc.
