About the adventure

Welcome to Paryllaxx. In a distant corner of the multiverse, there exists a world the size of a brown dwarf star. The geographical effects of its accelerated planetary rotation have caused the landmasses to twist into what appears from the heavens as a large, unending spiral. This, in turn, has caused the oceans to follow suit and is the reason the entire oceanic flow has been named the Spyral Sea by those who travel it. Let us zoom in closer to the Central Spyral, and focus the continent of Qualtus. The continent has been divided by three powers: the western Republic of Folxirus, the central Kingdom of Myriax, and the more-recent founding of the human-led Mozor Confederation to the east. A century before, Confederation territory had been inhabited mostly by dragonborn until colonized by humans on a pilgrimage from parts unknown. It took little time for the humans to gain control, forcing the dragonborn into servitude. It was 50 years ago when Sebastian Mozor declared himself Supreme Chancellor over the territories when the Mozor Confederation finally achieved its recognized status as one of the three Powers. 25 years ago, a dragonborn known as Malificus the Razor Hand rallied other dragonborn under his banner and began to reclaim the lands for his people...so named “The Razor Hand” because during a duel to the death with Mozor himself, rumors say Malificus (bare handedly) slapped the Supreme Chancellor so hard, the human’s head was sliced clean from his shoulders. Leadership of the Confederation passed to Mozor’s son, Sebastian Mozor II, who was far more ruthless with the dragonborn than his father ever dared to be. Rumors spread that both Myriax and Folxirus offered support to Malificus and his army. Five years into the war, Malificus challenged Mozor II to a duel, who quickly accepted. That duel was to take place 20 years ago, on the 19th of Helmber...what has since become known as the Missing Day. Nobody claims memory of that Missing Day...but there are rumors of those who do remember and are cursed to be unable to reveal the Secret: The Keepers. It is not known if Malificus was one of these Keepers but it is known that on the 20th of Helmber, Malificus abandoned his people and disappeared. The Confederation seized the opportunity to beat the leaderless dragonborn into submission...and then swiftly banished the survivors to a large island 70 miles from the mainland--now named Mal’s Folly as a reminder of the dragonborn--rebranded as Malificus the Craven. Today is the 20th anniversary of the Missing Day. Mozor’s grip on the Confederation is challenged by none. Non-human races are tolerated, if only for cheap labor...though dragonborn remain a rare sight. Our story begins on the opposite end of Confederation territory in a town where the destinies of a handful of adventurers are about to converge....

About me

Everyone has a story in them. Let me help you find yours. It can be hard for those who want to play TTRPGs, but either can’t find a group or just don’t know how to get started. Let me make that easier for you by offering my services as a professional Game Master for whatever game system you’re interested in playing. Let’s build a story together, while leaving you the freedom to explore and enjoy the world you’re creating without being bogged down by rules and multiple plotlines to keep track of. I've been doing this for over 30 years and have garnered a reputation for being a little outside the box but--at the same time--being 100% inclusive. The goal is for everyone to have fun and for nobody to feel left out. Also, if you see me advertising a game with no players yet, and the scheduled day and time doesn't work, message me with a day and time that would work and I can possibly move it to that schedule. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions!

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will start at 1st level. Character creation will take place during Session 0, but you are welcome to get a head start if you like. My basic guidelines are as follows: 1. Stats are determined by rolling 4d6 and dropping the lowest per stat. 2. Leveling up is milestone-based. 3. Encumbrance is enforced, but coin weight is ignored. 4. I allow all official content (including Unearthed Arcana), as well as most 3rd-party content with prior approval.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should make sure they at least have a working mic and access to D&D Beyond and Discord.

What Nemesis Noir brings to the table

Apart from using Discord, I also have access to several sourcebooks, as well as a D&D Beyond subscription. I'll be using the 2024 rules for this campaign, but I do have a few house rules of my own that I will discuss with you as a group.

Homebrew rules

I have options for homebrew rules; we'll talk about them during Session Zero to see if the group wants to use them or not.
