About the adventure
Phandalin is a quiet town, the kind that keeps its head down and gets by. It's a place that has simple problems, the kind common to a fledgling village isolated on the frontier. A rowdy band mercenaries loitering in the streets, prospectors and woodcutters who never make it back to town, goblins lurking in the woods; that sort of thing. But then, a whole new type of problem springs up when a dragon takes up roost in the Sword Mountains; with sightings of the white drake growing in frequency as it tests the limits of its new territory. Just as the people of Phandalin begin to watch the skies in fearful anticipation, whispers of something beneath their feet begin to surface when "fairy tales" of a lost fortune and a forgotten power clash with the cold reality of those willing to kill for both. However, none of the chaos caused by these events pale in comparison to an ancient agenda for Phandalin, crafted by those who lurk at the very edge of sanity and madness. And in the end, it will fall to a few souls armed with steel and spell to face the horror before it consumes us all. ____________________________________________ In this campaign I'll be running a mashup of "Phandelver & Below: The Shattered Obelisk" and the "Dragon of Icespire Peak" trilogy. Both of these official D&D 5e adventures center on the downtrodden village of Phandalin while taking the players from Level 1 – 12, and provide a classic-feeling D&D fantasy experience that grows more otherworldly as the story progresses. In addition to the main storylines of these adventures, this campaign will also have a heavy focus on downtime and roleplay activities with things like gathering, crafting, base-building, and faction conflict / political intrigue. There will, of course, be plenty of opportunities to flex your character's power in combat and to delve into dungeons; but be prepared to live in your character between the fighting as well! All this makes for a great adventure for players who want to revisit Phandalin for a fresh experience, as well as those who'll be making their first foray into this classic D&D setting on the Sword Coast! ____________________________________________ Free Session 0

About me
Hello adventurers! My name is Squint and I've been playing D&D for four years, two of them as an in-person DM. I decided to take my DMing online because I had a great DM in my first online campaign as a player which really helped me develop a love for D&D — and I want to be able to do that for someone else! I especially enjoy emphasizing the social aspect of D&D. I believe the game is at its best when players engage with each other in character by sharing ideas, making plans, and collaborating to build a vibrant and exciting world together. I encourage players to engage in small talk and work together in character to make meaningful decisions that shape the world they inhabit. For me, the most rewarding moments in D&D come from the connections forged by creating a story that is unique to the people on the board.

Creating your character
- Level 1 Characters (created on D&D Beyond) - Stats: Point Buy, Standard Array, or Rolled - Rule Set: 2024 5e rules (you may select from Feats, Species, and Subclasses from 2014 5e content that hasn't been added/updated in 2024 5e) - 3rd Party Sources that're available on D&D Beyond (such as Valda's gunslinger class) are allowed on a case-by-case basis. As long as they fit the setting theme, they'll very likely be approved! - A Note on Firearms: Rudimentary firearms are by no means widespread in this world, but artificers across the Sword Coast and beyond have been experimenting with and developing these weapons for several years now. If you choose a Ranger or other class that uses ranged weapons and want to use firearms instead of traditional ranged weapons, just let me know!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need the following by Session 0: - Discord account for voice chat - D&D Beyond account for character creation and management - A laptop or desktop computer (Foundry VTT unfortunately doesn't work on ~most~ tablets) - Microphone (built-in laptop or headphone mics work just fine) Note: Players do NOT need the paid versions of any of the above services to play this game
What SqntEastwood brings to the table
In every game I provide a full-suite virtual experience on Foundry VTT with professional-grade battle maps and dungeons to navigate, music to set the tone, modules to help streamline and smooth-out combat in a virtual setting, my very very best attempts at voice acting NPCs you engage with (please pardon the times my accents start to slip together into unknown dialects!), and a story with plenty of room for everyone to shine (or lurk in the shadows, if that's more their style)
Homebrew rules
- Crits are full base damage + rolled crit damage (when you crit, you should CRIT) - To perform the Help Action during roleplay and exploration, a character must have half proficiency, proficiency, or expertise in the skill that they are helping with - There will be a mix of official and homebrew crafting rules that players can utilize during downtime (more on that in Session 0)
