About the adventure

In "Let the World Burn", the party takes on the role of cultists serving their dark master. Subvert their churches, burn their cities, and spread your heretical teachings while sowing chaos and discord throughout the realm. As servants of darkness, only you can bring about the End of Days and usher in your Master as the Supreme Ruler over all.

About me

I fell in love with TTRPGs over a decade ago when a work colleague invited me to his D&D 3.5 table. I was fresh to the community and roleplaying as a whole, and the group made me feel nothing but welcomed and accepted as a person and a player. The Game Master immersed my character deeply into their lore and the story, which captivated me session after session and in part fueled my drive to become a GM myself. This sense of wonder and excitement is one I love to instill in my players, and the party's engagement with our adventures always brings a smile to my face. I love to work out story and lore with my players, integrating their characters into the worlds we play and revelling in their reactions as parts of their character's story, old and new, surface within adventures. For the past eight years I've played and GM'd extensively online for a large variety of players. I have and run full on campaigns, mini-series adventures, and one-off sessions in both 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons and Stars Without Number (Revised). I've run and am willing to run a variety of adventure types from pre-published with a 'set' story to full sandbox, and have a decently open schedule. If I'm not hosting a game during one of your desired times feel free to DM me! Note: As a virtual streamer I make use of a moving virtual avatar online and during gameplay. My voice is unmodified, but my face will always be that of my virtual character's avatar.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will begin in Session 0, where we establish the setting and expectations. Players may choose either the standard array or point buy for attribute assignment. While most official races are accepted for character creation, setting specific races and custom lineages are excluded from selection.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Requirements • Working microphone for voice chat • Discord, where voice chat will take place • A Roll20 account where character sheets and dice rolls will be tracked. Note that Roll20 works best on a computer Additional • A headset or headphones is ideal for negating feedback • Be prepared to use muting/unmuting or push-to-talk in Discord voice chat if you have excessive background noise or feedback • Players may use D&D Beyond if desired, but will require the Beyond20 extension to make rolls within Roll20

What Sylas brings to the table

I will provide access to a Roll20 campaign where all dice rolls and character sheets will be stored and tracked, along with material for any custom game rules we are running with. We will use http://rolladvantage.com/tokenstamp/ to create any relevant character tokens.

Safety

How Sylas creates a safe table

This game holds a darker setting and theme where the party plays the "bad guys" as cultists bringing about dark goals and ambitions. This stated, making players uncomfortable is far from the goal. While the party may undertake many actions that would be unusual for a standard heroic adventuring group, such as burning towns and kidnapping or killing innocents, we'll only go so far in description as the party is comfortable with. Our Session 0 will include a player discussion regarding campaign expectations, and what level of "darkness" to expect in the campaign. Should you have any specific requests regarding content to either exclude or gloss over feel free to directly message me. Sessions will generally include a 15-minute break midway through for bio needs or otherwise. GM Lines There will be no sexual content, implied or explicit, involving minors. There will be no sexual assault against player characters or initiated by player characters. GM Veils Any sexual encounters will be strictly fade-to-black. While sexual content may exist and be present (for example, the party enters a brothel), there will be limited to no descriptions of sexual acts performed.
