About the adventure

Wrath & Glory – Rapid Response War Campaign (Mythveil Edition) The Macharian Sector does not wait for heroes. It moves. It fractures. It reacts. In Operation: Black Tide, you are part of a sector-wide rapid response force deployed to crisis zones where entire worlds are beginning to fail. Communications break down. Regiments go silent. Reports contradict each other. You are not sent because the situation is clear — you are sent because it is already collapsing. This campaign uses the Mythveil Living World system: a dynamic sector simulation where factions act, conflicts escalate, and consequences unfold whether you are present or not. While you fight on one world, another may fall. While you extract civilians, a rival faction advances its own agenda elsewhere. Every mission you succeed, fail, or abandon shifts the balance of the sector. The world does not reset. It remembers. Gameplay is cinematic, military-focused Wrath & Glory with high-pressure deployments and unclear intelligence. You may be ordered to hold an evacuation, suppress an outbreak, secure a relic site, or contain a spreading disaster — often without knowing what you are truly facing. Combat is fast, brutal, and tactical. Success is measured in damage contained, time bought, and lives saved, not total victory. You may play Space Marines (Tier 3–4) as elite shock troops or Tier 3 Allied Forces such as veteran soldiers, battle-sisters, or mechanized auxiliaries attached to the operation. Power levels are intentionally uneven. Some of you are weapons. Some of you are the line behind them. All of you operate inside a living sector that will continue to burn if you fail to act. This game is for players who enjoy grimdark military sci-fi, reactive storytelling, and meaningful consequences. You will be forced to choose where to intervene — knowing that every choice creates new problems elsewhere. You are not here to solve the war. You are here to decide which fires are allowed to spread.

About me

Looking for the cinematic GM your dreams warned you about? That’s me. I was raised by shadows and storybooks, my first GM screen was a cereal box in the ’80s, my dice were chipped — my imagination wasn’t. Since then, I’ve told tales in blood-soaked crypts, neon back-alleys, and forgotten cities buried beneath the sand. I’m not just a Game Master; I’m a narrative architect, a ritualist of consequence, and the creator of Mythveil Chronicles — a living multiverse powered by deep research, emotional storytelling, and a world-simulation engine that reacts to every choice you make. I hold a Master’s in History, Religion, and Philosophy, so even my monsters come with footnotes, and over the decades I’ve run games for hundreds of players, hosted international LARP chronicles, and built campaigns where every NPC, every legend, and every location has roots in real-world folklore. When you play at my table, you’re not just part of a story — you step into a world that breathes with you and without you, and from the moment you arrive, you’re already a legend in the making.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation for Operation: Black Tide happens before the first session, with direct guidance from the GM to ensure every character fits the campaign’s tone and role. Players may create either: Space Marines (Tier 3–4) as elite members of the rapid-response core team, or Tier 3 Allied Troops (such as veteran soldiers, battle-sisters, or mechanized auxiliaries) attached to the operation. Characters are built using Wrath & Glory Core Rules and approved supplements. No homebrew stats are required. Starting Tier is fixed by role and agreed upon during onboarding to ensure balance and clarity. Equipment and wargear are assigned according to mission role and narrative logic, not min-max optimization. Character creation is handled collaboratively via chat and shared documents, with a short pre-session check to finalize details. The focus is on clear battlefield roles, personality under pressure, and reasons for deployment, not deep backstory novels. This game favors players who enjoy playing competent professionals in a dangerous, reactive world. Characters are expected to act decisively, accept risk, and operate as part of a team.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before the first session, players should complete the following steps: Create or finalize your character using Wrath & Glory rules (guided by the GM). Join the campaign Discord server (invite link provided after booking) for scheduling, coordination, and between-session updates. Set up access to the VTT used for the game (Foundry). A browser is sufficient; no purchase required. Test your audio setup (microphone and headphones) to ensure clear communication during tactical play. Read the short campaign primer shared by the GM, outlining tone, expectations, and the Living World structure. No extensive prep or rules mastery is required. The focus is on teamwork, decision-making under pressure, and reacting to a world that moves whether you are ready or not. Come prepared to act decisively. The sector will not wait.

What Dunchan Hunter brings to the table

This campaign is built on the Mythveil Rexborn Formula: a synthesis of deep research, living-world simulation, and cinematic play. I draw from all editions of Warhammer 40K roleplaying games, Black Library fiction, codices, novels, and parallel sci-fi and military media — not to overwhelm players with lore, but to ensure the world feels consistent, grounded, and alive. Nothing exists in isolation. Every faction, threat, and crisis has context, history, and consequences. You will play in a Living World. Factions act independently. Fronts shift. Events unfold even when you are not present. Your actions matter — but so do your delays, compromises, and failures. This creates a reactive sector where missions are responses to an evolving situation, not isolated adventures. My GM style is cinematic and atmospheric. I use ambient music, sound design, and strong scene framing to reinforce tension and scale. Combat is tactical, fast, and meaningful, with clear stakes and real consequences. I favor Rules as Written for structure, but apply the Rule of Cool when it enhances drama without breaking the world’s internal logic. Expect a focus on: professional, mission-oriented play clear objectives and hard choices immersive descriptions and military pacing research-driven lore that supports play instead of overshadowing it I don’t run power fantasies. I run stories of pressure, duty, and consequence — where victory is earned, sacrifice matters, and the world remembers what you do. Take your place — before history forgets you.**

Safety

How Dunchan Hunter creates a safe table

Player safety and comfort are a priority in all Mythveil Chronicles games, even when exploring dark or intense themes. Before play begins, all players will receive access to a Lines & Veils document outlining content boundaries. This will be reviewed briefly during Session 0, alongside tone, expectations, and communication standards. Players are always free to add or adjust boundaries at any time. During play, I use digital X, N, and O tools via chat or private message. These can be used silently and immediately, without explanation required. If a scene needs to pause, shift, or stop, it will do so without question or pressure. After intense sessions, I provide structured aftercare: a short cooldown period at the end of play, optional check-ins via Discord, and space for players to decompress or discuss moments that stood out. No one is expected to “push through” discomfort for the sake of the story. This campaign explores themes of war, loss, and pressure — but never at the expense of player well-being. The goal is immersive, meaningful play in a space where everyone feels respected, heard, and safe
