About the adventure
Beneath the metropolis of Waterdeep, there exists an ancient, sprawling dungeon. Its architect, is the Mad Mage, Halaster Blackcloak. His eyes see into every corner of the rooms and corridors of Undermountain. Here many adventurers have made a small fortune within Undermountain. For every story of fortune, there are many who never returned from Undermountain. My table is open to people of all walks of life and experience level. Undermountain is a classic dungeon-crawl focused on exploration and tactical combat but there are also many opportunities for roleplay and creative solutions. Shrewd negotiations with denizens of the dungeon may be more effective than brute force in some cases! Watch out for traps, monsters that call the dungeon home, factions trying to consolidate power, magical experiments, ancient relics, and never forget- Halaster Blackcloak is always watching.

About me
I've been playing TTRPGs for nearly 20 years, primarily D&D (3.5, 4e, 5e) with most of that time as the Game Master of the groups I've been in. My RPG library is extensive and I love making small modifications to make games more enjoyable or to fit the themes we're going for (whether serious or slapstick). I also love using elements from some games to enhance others (particularly I love Countdown Clocks from PBtA/ Forged in The Dark). I love playing different systems with people of all sorts.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will be done during session 0. Characters will start at level 5 using either Standard Array or Point Buy on Roll20. I am open to using 3rd party classes and species but these will need to be reviewed. I also will provide access to MCDM's psychic class, The Talent, for those interested in that class. Bring ideas of what your character will be to session 0 rather than a fully built character. Party creation is a collaborative effort and making characters together will help make a better team!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Prior to game start, you must have an active Roll20 account and join the game hosted there as well as join the linked Discord server where the voice chat of the game will be hosted. You'll also need to fill out a copy of Monte Cook's Consent in gaming (more information below).
What David brings to the table
I love to play to find out what happens- no two games are ever alike because of player character choices. While I tend to stick to rules as they are written, I am always open to creative problem solving. I tend to try to embody NPCs, acting within their motivations and desires in a believable manner.
Homebrew rules
This game will be using Milestone progression in place of Experience Points. When players have reached certain levels of the dungeon, or overcome specific encounters, they'll level up. This will remove extra book keeping and gives incentive to finding non-combat solutions to some encounters.

Safety
How David creates a safe table
I will be providing each player a copy of Monte Cook's Consent in gaming form. Each player will be expected to complete it prior to Session 0 to ensure the safety of all players in session. If there comes a moment during a session where we are moving into territory any player feels uncomfortable with, a player can use the X card in chat, verbalize their discomfort or even send me a private message. We will pause, and make adjustments as needed. The Content warnings listed below are meant to be quite exhaustive for this adventure- I feel confident that I can alter or remove elements that players are uncomfortable with- whether that is changing spiders and snakes to other creatures, or changing themes of some of the baddies.
