About the adventure

The small mining town of Phandalin is peaceful and quiet, Normally at least that is. Of late the region has been beset by brigands, monsters, and there are much darker forces at work that threaten to bring ruin to the town and its inhabitants if not the whole region. You and your companions have been hired to transport a wagonload of mining supplies to the town by your old friend, a dwarf by the name of Gundren Rockseeker. Will you help this town survive the coming perils? or watch it succumb to the forces at work?

About me

hey! I have been dming for a few years and am starting to learn to voice act, I am hoping to start a paid game or two in order to get a little back for the time that it takes to prep my campaigns. I love running roleplay heavy games that feel atmospheric and can help players really feel immersed in the game.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will do character creation before session 1, we will be using the roll20 character sheets.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a mic for voice chat during sessions, as well as this you will need a pc of some kind to access roll20. Players will also need a discord account as we will use a discord server to organize everything and for any out of session communication as well as the discord voice chat for the session voice calls.

What master_builder75 (avery) brings to the table

I utilize music tracks in the background on roll20 for environmental music as well as combat, players will have the ability to edit these volumes on their end in case they do not wish to hear the music, or it is too loud, or too quiet on your device. I also enjoy doing character voices (though players are not required to, It is understandably not everyones thing and you don't have to do a voice to still enjoy the game) and have a decent bit of experience with doing so that I will bring to the table. Combat I try to keep fast paced and running smooth, as well as this I try not to let the mechanics of the system get in the way of the fun at the table, they are a means to create a play environment we can all enjoy, they shouldn't become restrictions on player enjoyment. As well as this character creation and rules content for the system will be provided to players through roll20's compendium via content sharing.

Homebrew rules

I use two homebrew rules primarily, the first being that you may choose to drink a healing potion as either a bonus action to roll how much healing it provides as normal, or an action to receive the maximum healing that the potion can provide. The Second rule is a modification to how flanking works, rather than providing advantage flanking will instead reduce the targets AC by 2 allowing flanking to stack with other affects that provide advantage. Please keep in mind that these are homebrew rules, and as such unlike most of what you may learn in this beginner game they may not apply to other dms tables as they might not implement the same rules.

Safety

How master_builder75 (avery) creates a safe table

We will have a lines and veils document to keep topics that may make players (or me) uncomfortable out of the game. We will go over this at the beginning of session 1. We will also have breaks at the hour and a half point (halfway through the session) so that players and I can all use the restroom, stretch our legs, get a drink or snack, ect
