About the adventure

The demon Treerazer has long lurked in the wretched expanse of Tanglebriar, just south of the elven nation of Kyonin. Long ago, he tried to claim the nation as his own, but the elves pushed back and contained him. Today, many believe Treerazer to be exiled, trapped, imprisoned, or simply cowardly hunkering down in the swamp, afraid to attract attention or to trigger elven wrath once more. Those who believe this are about to learn just how dangerously wrong they are. - Explore Pathfinder's unique take on the elven race, with new character options like the Portal Scholar and the Demon Hunted. - Epic tier adventure that goes all the way to level 20. - Using the immersive and atmospheric official Paizo Foundry VTT module. - With one of StartPlaying's most reviewed GM's. This adventure begins at 11th level and continues all the way to 20th level. We will be playing weekly at the same time, using Foundry VTT and Discord. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

About me

Greetings, adventurers. My name is George, and I have been immersing myself in TTRPGs since around 2001. My journey into the realm of Game Mastering took a serious turn with the release of Pathfinder. My background in theatre, history, and education has been instrumental in shaping my GM style, which emphasizes dramatic conflict, challenging decisions, and character development. I’ve had the pleasure of engaging with a diverse and international player population, both online and in person. This experience has enriched my understanding of the game and its global appeal. The games I run are primarily drawn from official Paizo publications for Pathfinder, supplemented by key resources from publishers like Kobold Press and Sly Flourish. In each campaign, I make it a point to engage with the player characters’ backgrounds. This begins with a session zero where we collaboratively create characters that align with the theme of the campaign. Each campaign I run is a unique world unto itself. I strive to create a distinctive and consistent atmosphere for each one, whether it’s the dark and grim tone of a horror campaign or the epic battles of a high fantasy adventure. Some campaigns may include unique mechanics tailored to their theme. My games, even when played remotely online, aim to emulate the feel of a traditional tabletop experience as much as possible. I prefer to keep technology from overwhelming the gameplay, allowing us to focus on the human elements of the game - the people around our virtual table. I am always available to answer questions through this site. If you have any doubts before signing up for a session, please contact me. I am always eager to hear from established parties who are looking for a new GM. Whether you have already been gaming together, or you are a group of friends, coworkers, or a family group, I would love to embark on an adventure with you. I am also open to requests from existing/ongoing groups for a specific campaign for your party. Whether you have a published module in mind or just an idea that you’d like to develop, I’m here to help you play the game you want to play! Remember, the essence of tabletop gaming is to have fun and create memorable stories together. Let’s roll the dice!

Character creation

Creating your character

Since the adventure begins at level 11, it won't be possible to create characters together during session zero. You will have access to the campaign players' guide to help you create characters that feel like a part of the story. Though players are strongly encouraged to consider an elven or half-elven characters, that is not required. We will be using the "Ancestral Paragon" optional rule, so that every character can have a bit of elven flavour. We will also be using the Free Archetype and Gradual Ability Boost optional rules. Nature-themed character options such as those in "Howl of the Wild" and "Rage of Elements" are particularly suitable for this adventure.

Brand new party, to start at 11th level.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players are encouraged to use a webcam during play, as this generally seems to increase everyone's enjoyment and prevent misunderstandings and miscommunication, but this is not required. You should, however, use a headset to minimize interference. Because the adventure begins at a higher level, characters should be created in advance. Some familiarity with Pathfinder 2nd Edition rules is expected.

What George brings to the table

We will be using the official Foundry VTT module, custom-designed for this adventure with immersive sound and graphics. As always, all material needed by players to create and update their characters is available for free on Foundry. The game is hosted on Forge so you will have access to your character between sessions.

Homebrew rules

We will be using the following optional rules: - Free archetype (get an additional feat every other level that you must use to take an archetype feat) - Gradual ability boost (increase your ability bonuses one by one with each level, instead of all at once at levels 15 and 20) -Ancestral paragon - additional ancestry feats with the following stipulation: in the spirit of this elf-themed campaign, the additional feats taken must be from the elf ancestry, even if your character wouldn't normally qualify.

Safety

How George creates a safe table

Given the theme of war that pervades this adventure, violence and death are major themes, though in a way typical of most high fantasy adventures. During our session zero we will use the Lines & Veils protocol to make sure everybody has a say on what type of content we are and are not comfortable with having included in the game. Digital safety tools will always be available through Foundry VTT during play. Any language or behavior that makes other players (including the GM) feel unwelcome at the table will not be tolerated.
