About the adventure
The campaign starts on the world of Toril, in the massive dungeon complex called Undermountain, and extends into a universe rife with cosmic horror and epic, beyond-universal complications. In Universe 42, Undermountain is a corporation called UndermountainCorp headed by a sociopathic 1000 year old CEO wizard, Halaster Blackcloak. The company sells magical paraphernalia for ludicrous amounts of precious metal and stones. His executive staff are an insane lot of powerful 1%ers lost in their own machinations and delusional fantasies. The CEO and executives are known criminals to the various factions in the universe and hide away in their precious inverse scyscraper tucked under a 'primitive' city on Toril called Waterdeep. The factions have had enough of these criminals and want them brought to justice. Infiltrating the corporation and putting an end to their operations will be challenging and is Universe 42's top priority.

About me
Hello, I'm a dungeon master having played numerous ttrpg and video games since the mid 80s. I've played and ran every edition of Dungeons and Dragons and have had a diverse spectrum of players from across the states and South Korea - both homebrew and organized play. I helped run organized play for a few months in Asheville NC at Wyverns Tale and was one of many dms that ran for their Extra-Life charity events. I love zany, gritty, horrifying and epic storytelling. The craziest game I've been privileged to run was a 15 person 20th level game at a convention in Black Mountain NC called Scarefest. I created a miniature set for a dungeon event in a homebrew Undermountain game that was the climactic ending to a campaign I'd been running for several years. These days, I tend to only run digitally through roll20 as I enjoy the efficiency of using AI imagery, soundtracks on occasion, and a setting that combines elements of horror, D&D's Spelljammer and Planescape setting with sci-fi elements sprinkled in. The main campaigns I run center around Undermountain from the Forgotten Realms setting and Universe 42 is an epic backdrop for the worlds I've been running (published and my own creation) since the early 90s. Since I do not have the flow for an art department and writers, I subscribe and use Google Gemini's Canvas to assist in formatting/completing my documents and for artwork. If I use art created by an artist, or writing that my playtesters and contributors have added to Universe 42, I will always give credit where credit's due. If you play in my universe, your character will become a big part of it as well.

Creating your character
There will be a free session 0 to make sure everyone gets their characters/stories before starting the game, use published D&D books and 2024 D&D rules. Content from 2014 is also acceptable. Characters will start with 30 point buy (still max 15 starting ability scores) and Tough feat for free. Your character's age will be important as we will be rolling life events.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Roll20 is needed. All other details will be hashed out session 0. Once players have solidified their interest in session 0, I'll pass the link to Discord and the game on Roll20.
What Eric Jeffries brings to the table
some soundtrack material will be used plenty of tactical combat, alternate solutions are always on the table I enjoy roleplaying games and tactical combat games with great story, I like to put a lot of that into my games and can get really into character with various npcs storystorystory Rule of Cool for Universe 42, though I do not mind running games Rules as Written I like visuals. I use ai generated images, animations and maps as well as purchased content. I tend to get inspired by players' ideas - we create a game together. safe place, respectful and understanding that this is a game - there are priorities in life you're never obligated to stay in the game, no hard feelings and you'll always be welcomed back on the condition the other players agree to having you back I run a mix of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror, but there are areas of games that can be a bit much for players. We'll discuss what is and isn't wanted during session 0. I'm not here to convert you to a religion, nor ridicule you over your political ideologies. In-game religions and politics are always going to be part of my game, and they might reflect or mirror what's going on in our society. That does not mean I agree/disagree with it, it's just part of the story. We spend 2-3 hours just enjoying our journey along the yellow brick road in our play suits.
Homebrew rules
2024 rules critical hit: I've always done max damage die, then roll a die - which can get crazy in 5e but it's worked across the board. Crits can be bad, and can come with complications. We can get more into it in Session 0. All characters in Universe 42 start with the Tough feat for free. If your background gives it for free, you'll be double-tough or you can choose a different feat. You roll hp after 1st level in Universe 42, but if you roll less than your average hp, you get average. Training and downtime will be part of the game. It'll be explained in session 0. Magical item creation is encouraged in Universe 42. I use the downtime activity in Xanather's, and I've created a decent sized list of steps required in enchanting various items. I like fast space combat, dungeon crawls, outer planes of existence, am fascinated by universal conflicts, and the various worlds of D&D. I use content from earlier editions and 5e Spelljammer and Planescape. Undermountain is the meat of the game. There are sci-fi/modern elements in the game.
