About the adventure

This is a sandbox/site based game where the players actions drive the story and the action. AdvancedDND 1e Welcome to Hârn Hârn is a large island off the cost of the continent of Lythia. Lythia is the largest continent on the planet known as Kethira. The technology of Hârn and Western Lythia has barely progressed beyond the iron age. There are some examples of plate armor — though these tend to be small pieces for arm and leg protection. Leather, scale mail, and chain mail are all common. Agriculture is rudimentary and inefficient. Hârnic cultures are mostly feudal in nature. The majority of people on Hârn are serfs farming the land for a manor lord. In return, the serfs are given protection. The main exceptions to this are the people of Orbaal in northern Hârn (who follow a viking civilization model) and the various goblinoid and barbarian tribes inhabiting the island. Magic exists and is standard AD&D fare. Hârn is a polytheistic society. The gods of Kethira often intervene in human matters at the request of their followers. Some of these gods are at war with one another, with the conflict spilling over into Kethira. There are several non-human intelligent species on Hârn. Elves are known as the Sindarin. The Dwarven race are the Khuzdul. These are fairly stereotypical examples of Tolkienesque races (elves are secretive forest dwellers, dwarves are excellent miners and metalsmiths, etc.) The small, malevolent goblins/orcs of Hârn are a constant threat. There are many other strange creatures, from dragons to Vlasta (small creatures that rip out the eyes of their assailants.) Location: Restenford, Selionshire, in the Kingdom of Kanday, along the Restin River on the southern shore of the Kingdom . Restenford is the fifth largest town in Southern Kanday. It is about a five day journey from the city of Aleath. Altogether, Restenford is home to 530 households, most of which are human. Virtually every able-bodied adult male or boy over 13 is enlisted in the militia. Sheriff Jens Demilaen, appointed by Queen Mirelael, is distressed by the growing threat of goblinoid attacks on caravans and travellers in the area, and his shipment of iron ore from the Loban mine is long overdue. An old abandoned manor, rumored to be haunted lies a few miles south of Restenford along the coast road, overlooking the sea. It is shunned by the locals, except for children who dare each other to sleep within! The dusty, rutted road is lined with closely-grown hedges of brambles and shrubs. Here and there it cuts through a copse or crosses a rivulet. To either hand, forest and meadow have given way to field and orchard. A small herd of kine graze nearby, and a distant hill is dotted with the fieldstone chimneys with thin plumes of blue smoke rising from them. A road angles west into the hill country, and to either side of the road ahead are barns and buildings — a fortified stone keep sits atop a low hill. Restenford at last! The Year is 720. The adventure begins...

About me

OG GM and player with a flair for detail and verisimiltude. Its all about the experience. A GM should be prepared and offer the players an experience worthy of their time. I expect players to be focused on the game, inject a little humor, and come prepared to tell a cooperative engaging story. I like to run games that are generally investigative, with 60% roleplay and 40% combat. Occasionally I like to run an old school module. I prefer to play AD&D, 5e or Traveller. I have been known to run some RuneQuest, Villains and Vigilantes or GURPS Autoduel. My preferred Game system in HarnMAster or any BRP (RuneQuest) variant such as Call of Cthulhu. I am not an adversarial DM, I like to challenge the players, and their characters, and resolve the logical results of their actions.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players create and arrive with their own characters. Roll stats using any of the methods in the DMG. (suggest 4D6 drop the lowest) Use the Dice roller on Discord or Roll20. The DM will provide any magic items if necessary. I will provide a comprehensive compilation of house rules as necessary to improve game play. Otherwise all rules as written in the PH and DMG. No Homebrew or 3rd party material. No Unearthed Arcana Material. No Weapon Specialization, and no non-weapon proficiency. Racial Class level limits are strictly enforced. I will be using 6 second melee rounds, and adjust movement accordingly. (halve your move and thats how many grid squares you can move. ie 120" = 6" or 30' in melee) Death and Healing per the DMG. Go below 0 hit points and youre gonna spend a week recovering. I am using Group initiative, (declare action prior to rolling) and Weapon to Hit AC bonuses/penalties.
