About the adventure

This is an introductory to mid level level ongoing Shadowrun 5th edition Campaign, focusing on the trials, tribulations, and (hopefully!) victories of the up and comers of the Red Hot Nukes, one of the Redmond's most notorious, and beloved, Go-Gangs. (Motorcycle Clubs, they would say.) I intend this game to play at the beginner/introductory level but still be fun for returning players, that means a slow burn roleplay focused introductory period with things expanding as they go, and a limited set of books allowed on generation that we can expand as we go. This game will be crunchy exploration story with focuses on both thematic elements and a long ranging meta-story that extrapolates on some secret lore hidden in the exposition about the Nukes over the years. Dwarves makeup the majority of the gang, but anyone can be a member. This one will be pretty pink mohawk, set in the Redmond Barrens, to begin with at least, where the Gang's stronghold's lie, this campaign is VERY rigger and vehicle adept friendly and will focus on vehicle combat and chase sequences (and likely require some trial and error and house ruling on everyone's part.) I may also use this game and the exploits of *this* chapter of the Nukes for story background for the occasional road race or road rally one shot's set in a shared Seattle Metroplex.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will do character creation for this campaign on my discord server in a separate 1-2 hour complimentary sit down individually or as time allows. There will also be introductory session 0 (potentially multiple if we launch without a full table) that I will host complimentary to get the group together and do some light roleplay/perhaps an easy mission. Late comers are welcome but I do love to have as many players as possible for session 0. We will use PRIME Sum to 10 Street level character creation, with additional resources being handed out by the gang to reflect the recruitment process. As a Gm I will be prioritizing riggers, adepts, demolitions oriented builds first, and strongly prefer dwarves for this one, as the gang is 80% or so Dwarves with a high amount of awakened. ALL CHARACTERS START AT PRIME RESOURCES E ALLOCATION. PLEASE WAIT TO SPEAK TO ME BEFORE SPENDING. (This will represent the gang outfitting all of you.) I highly recommend using the Chummer5 App. I have created a custom settings file pre set with the books I want to use these are listed below. I am open to adding other books but would prefer to keep it tight to these for starters. What to expect

Preparing for the session

I use Discord and Roll20 for most of my games so you'll want those. A Google account to log into the drive for character storage and archival would be helpful. I highly recommend downloading Chummer5e as well, it makes character generation and management far simpler with this system.

What J.R. brings to the table

First off, I will give each player a 1-2 hour pre-session 0 character generation period. The character generation system for Shadowrun is pretty complex and I'd like to focus on the session 0 being there for light roleplay, introductions, and integrating the group, possible a short encounter style mission. At the table I provide the best play experience I am able, with visual aids, musical cues, a soundboard I am currently working up, graphic descriptions and I'm working on better voice acting skills and use a voice modulation software to immerse all of you in the Sixth World and colorful characters inhabiting it. I am deeply passionate about this setting and this game, and have 30+ years of experience playing and Gming it across multiple platforms. I use this deep, intrinsic and multi edition knowledge to flesh out the city and Sixth world to bring a real sense of immersion, depth, and understanding to the campaign. To me, the locations in shadowrun *are* characters unto themselves and I want to create an environment that really espouses that and lets people immerse their characters in it.

Homebrew rules

Shadowrun is not a perfectly balanced system, so I have some essential house rules listed on Roll20 but may need to make slight alterations or modifications in play to make sure everyone feels included and involved in every mission.

How J.R. creates a safe table

Shadowrun is a deeply dystopian game rooted in nuanced and sensitive topics, one that was written a long time ago by well meaning gamers who didn't always understand the groups and social dynamics they were trying to portray. First and foremost, I want to say that there are deeply adult and controversial topics dotting the landscape of this game, well before anything I detail or specify for this campaign, so I have put a wide range of content warnings below. I can and will absolutely work to remove some of these if they are something that players have a specific aversion to. Now, all of that said! Here is a link to my Lines and Veils Document for Shadowrun. Again, this can be modified but this is just a baseline of "existing" Shadowrun material. I will have a player deck on table with a Green, Yellow, Red encoding that doubles as an X card. As well as a Green/Yellow/XMacro buttons in case the Card is visually glitchy or something. I encourage everyone to take breaks, just mute your mic to let me know. We will do end of session debriefs with stars and wishes as well as a bleed check and general check in. Session 0 will be free of charge due to the complex nature of the world and system and I want to use it to discuss tropes, goals and the lines and veils for this specific campaign, as well as integrate the character's backstories or at least get them familiar with the same contacts.
