About the adventure
“A thousand years after the world ended, humanity still takes out the trash.” In a destitute wasteland future, a massive mouth to Hell yawns open just outside what was once Reno, Nevada, spewing endless demonic horrors into the dead husk of the world. Civilization fell long ago — but humanity didn’t vanish. It adapted. It armored up. It got mean. Now, the remnants of mankind send Janitor Squads — half-mad soldiers and scavengers — to descend into the infernal depths and keep the tide at bay. Their ride? Pseudocaskets: rusted steel coffins dropped from a towering, ancient crane — one of the last machines still functioning from a better age. Your mission: descend, survive, and burn back the dark. About the Campaign HELL N’ BACK is a homebrew Dungeons & Dragons 5E campaign blending post-apocalyptic sci-fi, horror, and heavy metal fantasy. Inspired by DOOM, Warhammer 40k, and Mad Max, this game features brutal combat, desperate survival, and moments of bleak, black comedy. You’ll face infernal monstrosities, cursed tech relics, and the creeping realization that maybe Hell isn’t the only thing that’s broken. Campaign Details System: Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (5E) Genre: Grimdark, Post-Apocalyptic, Horror Fantasy Tone: Brutal, cinematic, and darkly funny Play Style: 70% combat / 30% exploration & roleplay Session Length: ~3 hours per session Level Range: Mid-to-high tier (suggested 5–10) Format: One-shot or short campaign arc (customizable) Platform: (Add: Roll20, Foundry, Discord, etc.) Player Expectations HELL N’ BACK is not for the faint of heart. It’s a campaign about survival, sacrifice, and the thin line between courage and insanity. Whether you’re a grizzled ex-soldier, a cursed technomancer, or a zealot with a flamethrower, every descent into the Maw is a one-way trip — and your only goal is to make it count. Perfect for players who love: High-octane grimdark action Creative combat and brutal encounters Cinematic storytelling and dark humor Custom worldbuilding and unique lore

About me
I really love getting into the nitty gritty to make my campaigns feel real, they're often accompanied by DM cheat sheets which often end up being 50-100 pages, what can I say I love lore. I like working in any setting, particularly high fantasy, sci-fi, and the wild west. I've been a DM for 6 years now and I know the game like the back of my hand and my favorite rule is number 10. Don't let the game get in the way of everybody having fun. I like to scale the games in proportion to make my players feel important and epic as they should, seeing as they're seeking out an epic Adventure. If you like detailed worlds, an on/off the rails play style and you like to have fun with it, I'm the DM for you.

What Rob brings to the table
With a background in filmmaking, I provide a cinematic experience first and foremost. I prefer character driven plots, and try to do character voices as best I can. I stick to rule of cool. I use visual aids as well as music through discord and roll20.
Homebrew rules
I give players the option to play with exploding crits if they'd like, at their own risk. Heroic acts - upon failing deaths saves or taking overkill damage you can act out of turn and out of rules to do something heroic and meaningful with your death.

How Rob creates a safe table
A shared tabletop space is not a place I will allow someone to take over, or making anyone else uncomfortable. The safety and wellbeing of my players is first and foremost and I will not hesitate to kick out a problem player. There are some darker themes that I would obviously rather avoid even in a grimdark setting, so please don't see that tag and bring weirdo energy into my game. Session 0 covers all safety precautions and agreements.
