About me

My name is James and Pintado is my nickname,… call me either and you’ll get a smile back from me. i am an enthusiastic artist expressing themselves through all things deemed nerdy. I Game master, role-play, draw and dream fantasy all day, most days. I love co-creating epic stories of adventure, intrigue and suspense with other players, interweaving a balanced experience of compelling story, battle strategy and rewarding drama. I really enjoy helping others express themselves through tabletop games. I try and create a space for thoughtful character creation where players can craft as deep or merely functional character as they choose. I seek to balance the dynamics of a multi person table so all participants can find what they are looking for in a shared creative experience. In real life, I am a teacher and a performer and those skills come through in experiences I facilitate. I love helping new players find their way while creating interactive and entertaining content for “our” table. I see this all as a group experience and prefer to be an ally to the adventurers as opposed to being their opponent. Lastly, everybody is welcome at my table. I expect all players to be kind and work to co create an amazing experience together, full of mutual respect and cooperation. Let’s get together and create some magic!!!

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will make a level one character to play in this campaign, taking note to pick a species, background or subclass from the Crooked Moon Book to ensure thematically consistent. However, Players are free to use my vast library of content to pick not-often-allowed classes like Ill-rigger, Gunslinger, Monster Hunter or Blood Hunter using 2014 or 2024 rules are allowed. We will decide further details like attributes, multiclassing and homebrew rules in our Session Zero.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

By following the Discord link that will come shortly after joining, you will be able to create a free Discord account if you don't already have that. Once on our Discord, the link to the D&DBeyond Campaign will be provided, again providing a free account also with content sharing so you won't need to purchase anything there. Lastly 30 min before the game I will post a link to Foundry which is the Virtual Table Top we use to share images, host battle maps with dice and text chat features. The link provide a free account for you to use Foundry during our sessions. Outside of that, players only need to come with a creative streak, an open mind and a willingness to have a good time.

Safety

How GM James Pintado creates a safe table

We start every session with a "Check in" to make sure everyone can voice how they are doing before game. Lasts about 10min. We create Lines and Veils in our session zero and they can be added to at anytime. We take a 10 break, half way through the session. At the end of the session we do a Stars & Wishes Variation allowing for players to highlight favorite moments in the session. The DM and the Players as a Group then award Heroic Inspiration to a Player/Players who excelled in the session. I have an Open Door and am available for my players, should any issues arrise. I am a DM that aims to be a support structure to your creativity rather than an adversary.
