About the adventure

When the sun sets, survival begins. ---- As the winter winds howl and the longest night descends, a small band of Roman legionaries stationed at a remote outpost faces dangers far beyond the ordinary. Strange howls echo from the forest, shadows stir under the snow, and ancient wards hint at forgotten powers awakened by the Solstice. With no relief in sight and enemies lurking in the dark, the soldiers must survive the night—facing both mortal threats and forces not even Rome can conquer. Will they hold the line until dawn, or will the wilderness claim them all?

About me

Hey there! Feel free to call me Aargh. Everyone does. Do you want to know more about me? Here’s a little bit. As a middle-aged dude, I’ve been immersed in tabletop roleplaying for decades, primarily as a GM. My interests are broad. I’ve dabbled in big games, little games, and even some of the more eccentric ones. Transactional GMing is new to me, and I ask for everyone’s patience as I navigate these waters. The best I can do is pledge to be the most okayest GM you’ve ever had. When it comes to GMing, I guide with a moderate hand. I’m not a rules lawyer, nor will I hand-wave everything. You’ll get a part-narrative, part-immersive experience in most of my games. While my repertoire of voices is limited, I think you’ll enjoy my NPCs. But my primary focus is on the story. Telling the best possible tale we can weave together from my imagination and yours. I welcome everyone to the table if they’re respectful and adhere to a few guidelines. One thing I can promise is that you’ll always feel valued in my games. Nothing’s worse than being overlooked. Remember that it’s all for fun, and everyone’s at the table to have a good time. That’s what I do. As long as we’re on the same page, we’re almost guaranteed an above-average experience. So join me! We can muddle through this thing called gaming together.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please make sure you have a Discord account and can join the GM's server (the link is provided at signup). A microphone is required; a camera definitely is NOT. Some typing will be necessary. Play in a quiet place. Access to Owlbear Rodeo isn't REQUIRED, but is encouraged.

What Rated Aargh brings to the table

Expect light-to-moderate roleplay with some voices. I use Kenku for music and occasional sound effects.

Safety

How Rated Aargh creates a safe table

Lines and Veils are set out at the start of the game in a mini-Session 0. I have an open-door policy, so anyone is free to get up and leave temporarily or permanently if they have issues with the material. A mid-adventure break is built in for relaxation, talk, etc.
