About the adventure
Welcome to Frozen Sick, a cozy, story-focused adventure perfect for brand-new players and returning ones alike. The game takes place in the chilly frontier town of Palebank Village, where a strange illness has begun to spread, turning people cold, weak, and marked with icy blue veins. Your group will work together to uncover what’s causing the sickness and how to stop it. This adventure is gentle on beginners: we’ll learn the rules as we play, take things step by step, and make sure everyone feels comfortable asking questions at any time. The focus is on fun teamwork, clear choices, and exploring a cold world full of different NPCs, mysterious clues, and a few exciting battles. You’ll travel through forests, snowfields, and ancient ruins as you piece together the truth behind the illness. Expect a mix of roleplay, light combat, investigation, and plenty of chances to be creative. No experience is required...just bring a character idea and the desire to have a good time with the group. If you’ve ever wanted to try D&D, or you enjoy relaxed, cooperative adventures with a touch of mystery, Frozen Sick is a great place to start. Everyone is welcome at the table!

About me
Hi! I’m ShdwBall GM, and I’m thrilled to be stepping into the role of Game Master here. I may not run many different systems, but the one I do run, I run with care, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for collaborative storytelling. I believe that great adventures don’t require a thousand rulebooks, just imagination, good company, and a table full of people eager to explore. My goal as a GM is to create a welcoming, low–pressure space where players feel comfortable learning, asking questions, and growing their characters at their own pace. I especially enjoy working with new players, helping them understand rules without overwhelm, and guiding them into the world of TTRPGs most notably Dungeons & Dragons in a way that feels approachable and exciting rather than intimidating. Expect a mix of roleplay, creative problem–solving, and memorable moments, whether those moments come from heroic triumphs, unexpected chaos, or the kind of laughter that stops the session for five minutes. If you’re new to tabletop games, you’re in the right place. If you’re experienced, I’ll make sure there’s still plenty to challenge and delight you. I’m looking forward to building worlds with you, telling stories together, and rolling some dice along the way.

Creating your character
Character creation happens before Session 1. After booking, you’ll receive a link to a private Discord server where I’ll help you build your character, answer questions, and guide new players step-by-step. This game is designed for beginners and returning players, so no prior experience is needed. If you’ve never made a character before, I will walk you through everything.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before we jump into the adventure, please make sure you complete the following steps so everything runs smoothly: 1. Join the Discord Server After booking, you’ll receive an invite link to my Discord. All communication, scheduling updates, character creation help, and handouts will be handled there. 2. Create a Roll20 and D&D Beyond Accounts We’ll be playing on Roll20, so you’ll need a free account. Once you’re in the Discord, I’ll send you the campaign link so you can join the game. Character sheets will be on D&D Beyond. 3. Check Your Audio Setup Please have: - A working microphone - Headphones (so we avoid echo) - A quiet space if possible No webcam needed unless you prefer using one. 4. Review the Character Creation Guidelines All rules for building your character will be sent in the Discord’s character channel. If you’re a new player, don’t stress it, I'll walk you through everything step by step. 5. Optional (But Helpful): - Install the Discord mobile/desktop app (better stability than the browser) - Bring any ideas, vibes, or themes you’d love to explore
What ShdwBall brings to the table
-- Free Session 0 & Tutorial Lesson -- Other than teaching you, what you'll also get at my table is: 🎭 Fun Roleplay I bring NPCs to life with simple character voices and clear personalities. You’ll always know who you’re talking to, and I encourage players to roleplay at whatever level feels comfortable. 🎶 Atmosphere & Music Expect fitting background music and ambient sounds to set the mood: snowstorms, caves, tense fights, and quiet village scenes. ⚔️ Smooth, Cinematic Combat Combat is fast, clear, and exciting. I use the Rule of Cool when it makes sense, and keep things fair and fun for everyone. 📘 Helpful Rules Guidance I explain rules in a simple way, support new players, and make sure everyone understands what’s happening. Rules are there to supplement the story, not hold it back! 🗺️ Easy-to-Use Visuals You’ll get clean maps, simple handouts, and clear tokens. I keep the VTT setup smooth, slow and steady so you can focus on playing. 💬 Good Communication I keep things clear, friendly, and supportive. If you ever feel lost, confused, or need help with your character, I’m right there to guide you.
Homebrew rules
I use a few light homebrew rules to help the game run smoother, but nothing complicated. All homebrew rules will be explained clearly in Session 0 so everyone knows what to expect. I will also remind you of them, whenever it occurs in a session and it might benefit you. They're there to help you achieve things with less pressure.

How ShdwBall creates a safe table
Your comfort and enjoyment matter. I run every game with clear, upfront safety expectations so players can relax, roleplay, and have fun without worrying about uncomfortable surprises. Before Session 1, every player receives a digital Lines & Veils, document (Google Form or PDF). It’s private, anonymous, and I adjust the game according to what the entire table needs.
