About the adventure
Welcome to Barovia, a domain of dread twisted by the ancient vampire, Strahd von Zarovich. This campaign utilizes Legends of Barovia (LoB), an expanded, lore-rich adaptation that weaves deeper mysteries and tragic history into the classic setting. You have been pulled through the impenetrable Mists into a land where the sun never shines and the wind whispers forgotten secrets. You will be traveling from the perpetually gloomy Village of Barovia to the shadowed streets of Vallaki and beyond, seeking not just survival, but the means to challenge a foe who commands the very land. If you enjoy deep, atmospheric Gothic horror storytelling, moral quandaries, and unraveling complex mysteries tied to ancient curses and lost power, this is your domain. This adventure is built entirely upon the Pathfinder Second Edition (Pf2e) system. If you crave tight, tactical combat that rewards planning, synergy, and intelligent use of the 3-Action Economy, this is the campaign for you. Expect challenging, turn-based encounters against terrifying undead, ancient Fey guardians, and Strahd’s cunning agents, all meticulously converted to Pf2e’s balanced math. Success will demand teamwork and mastery of your class features. Your primary quest, integrated from LoB, is the Fey Quest: restoring the three ancient Fanes (Forest, Water, and Mountain) to weaken Strahd's grip on the land and the source of his unnatural power. This objective provides a clear, long-term focus that motivates exploration across the entire valley and offers the party powerful, permanent boons upon completion. We are seeking committed players for a long-term campaign, ideal for those who want to see their characters grow from desperate travelers to legendary heroes. The stakes are immense, and every tactical decision, both in combat and roleplay, matters immensely in this environment. This paid game will be conducted entirely asynchronously via Discord. This format allows you to engage in detailed, immersive roleplay and thoughtful tactical combat at your convenience. We utilize a reliable Kobold dice bot t, and I will enforce a clear posting expectation (e.g., a response within 24 hours) to maintain a steady and engaging pace. This commitment ensures that your investment in this dark saga is rewarded with consistent narrative flow and prompt GM support. The cost is $12 per week. Only join if you are ready to commit to the story and enjoy an intense, tactical, and narrative-driven horror experience.

Creating your character
We'll be using Pathfinder Second Edition (Pf2e) for character creation, incorporating the latest Remastered rules. This ensures everyone has access to the most up-to-date options and a streamlined character-building experience, giving you all the tools needed to create unique and well-rounded characters that fit seamlessly into the dread of Barovia. The adventure starts at Level 1, which allows us to establish the party's initial struggles before facing the Mists' true horrors. We will use the standard Pf2e method for determining your ability scores: using the boosts and flaws provided by your Ancestry, Background, and Class selections. The theme of this campaign requires a commitment to the Gothic horror tone. All official Pf2e Ancestries are available, but there is a crucial caveat: Your Ancestry must be visually and culturally subtle enough to blend into a secluded, generally medieval human society, or you must accept that your appearance will draw intense scrutiny, fear, or even hostility from the xenophobic Barovian natives. This helps maintain the atmosphere. For instance, an Elf or Dwarf might be rare but acceptable, while an Android or a visually monstrous lineage might be instantly feared. I reserve the right to reject character that does not fit in the setting. Regarding Classes, most are permitted, but please consider the tone. Avoid options that rely heavily on high-level planar travel or cosmic magic, as the Dark Powers of the Mists tend to filter those influences. To keep our paid game running smoothly, creation will happen before our first session post. Please use the digital tool Pathbuilder 2e and submit your final Level 1 sheet to me on Discord. I’ll review your sheet for compliance and thematic fit, and then we’ll be ready to launch directly into the adventure! Kobold bot will be used for dice rolling
What to expect

What BlackStrum brings to the table
I bring a fully-equipped Discord server to the game, designed to enhance your play-by-post experience. The server includes multiple channels tailored for different aspects of the adventure. You will have a dedicated channel for roleplaying the main adventure, an OOC discussion channel for out-of-character talk, and specific channels for dice rolling and testing your rolls. I’ll be sharing relevant images in a picture channel to help set the scene, and during battles, I’ll use Foundry to manage the maps, posting updated versions in the battlemap channel. Additionally, each player will have their own private one-on-one channel with me for anything that requires individual attention or direct communication.

How BlackStrum creates a safe table
Consent in Roleplay: While the game may involve intense scenarios, including conflict and combat, it’s vital that all roleplaying interactions, especially those involving sensitive topics, are consensual. If a situation feels too intense or crosses a personal boundary, it’s okay to pause and discuss how to proceed in a way that works for everyone. Supportive Atmosphere: We’re here to have fun and enjoy a shared story. Creating a supportive and non-judgmental space is key to everyone’s enjoyment. Encouraging each other and being mindful of how our actions affect others is central to our play. Respect for Boundaries: We will establish clear boundaries for the game, and it’s important that these are respected by all. If someone expresses discomfort or sets a limit, it will be honored without question. By embracing these practices, we ensure that our game remains a fun, engaging, and safe space for everyone involved.
