About the adventure

Imagine a world that should be steeped in magic and wonder. Massive arcane machines running on renewable energy, entire cities that rely on magic as a source of fuel, and whole civilizations run by magic users in search of knowledge and secrets. Now imagine if over night every single magic capable person disappeared. What would happen? How would the world run? For 300 years, life and progress slowed to a crawl, until one day magic births began once more. Sorcerers and Druids, Wizards and Warlocks, once more taking the public stage. But a sinister force behind the scenes works to stop their growth once and for all. Thats where you come in, a band of semi-magical misfits who are thrust into a multinational mystery that will take them deep into intrigue and underhanded dealings with criminals. Creating characters that grow together in their journey to understand the powers they were born with, bestowed upon, or cursed with, you will set out to find those missing mages and the malevolent forces that took them away.

About me

Hello, my name is Nick and I have been a writer and TTRPG Game Master for close to 10 years now. I love crafting serious and inventive roleplay experiences that blend humor, tragedy, and ingenuity to help players get the most out of both their character and overall experience at the game table. I am also a High School English, History, and Drama teacher.

Character creation

Creating your character

Personally, I allow a lot of freedom when it comes to character creation. You have an idea that you think would be sick? We can work it out. You wanna use standard array or point buy? Do it up. Starting at Level 3, I am here to work with you to create the characters you want, not the ones that I think you should play.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Discord and D&D Beyond will be the primary platforms on which this campaign will be run.

What Nick brings to the table

I like to consider whats best in the moment for the story, and if thats RaW or RoC then thats the way it is. I try to do character voices for the majority of the NPCs and the nature of this campaign is mostly interactions between humanoids and the characters at the table. Combat isn't tactical, at least for the first few sessions so characters can get a feel for their classes and abilities, although down the line things will get progressively harder. Think of it like the scaling in Kingdom Hearts.

Homebrew rules

I allow everyone to have the max rolled HP automatically, and everyone gets one free feat.

Safety

How Nick creates a safe table

In session 0, I tend to go over the basic rules for the table, establish the lines and veils, and discuss the subject matter that will appear in the sessions. In terms of X,N, and O's whatever makes players most comfortable, whether that be messaged, or physical.
