About the adventure

You are the newest member of the local Adventurers' Guild stationed in the quaint town of Kanterton. Yet before you've had a chance to settle in, you've already been called upon to save the day! Enjoy an episodic campaign where each week is like a fast-paced (stand-alone) one-shot adventure. Come and go as you like, but please note that only those who stay with the campaign will be able to level up, keep their items between sessions, and experience the complete story. PLAY STYLE This campaign is perfect for those looking for a series of one-shot adventures connected by an overarching story of heroism, sacrifice, and friendship. There will be mysteries, monsters, magical items, treasure, and more. Experience classic Dungeons and Dragons gameplay with an equal mix of combat, roleplay, puzzle-solving, and exploration. WHAT TO EXPECT We will play over DISCORD voice-only chat. During combat, our Dungeon Master will also stream a virtual tabletop with fully-illustrated maps for everyone to see. (While using Discord, please use a microphone and headphones so that the sound from your speakers does not echo or cause other audio issues.)

Homebrew rules

Natural 20s: During combat, a Critical Hit will deal increased “Crunchy Critical” damage. This is calculated by rolling all applicable damage dice and adding their sum to the maximum total possible damage for the attack. Free Item-Switching: During combat, your character may put away a weapon, pull out another, and prepare to attack all in one FREE Action. The same is true for pulling any item out of your pack, like a potion. Drinking Healing Potions: When drunk as a Bonus Action, healing potions restore 2d6 + 2 HP. When drunk as a full Action, they restore up to 14 HP. (No Temporary Hit Points are granted.) Opportunity Attacks: To allow for more movement and cinematic action during combat, all Opportunity Attacks made by player characters, NPCs, villains, and monsters are rolled with disadvantage. Flanking Advantage: Characters who are “flanking” a target may each attack that target with advantage! Characters are “flanking” when they are attacking from opposite sides while staying within 5 feet of their target. Safety

How Nick "The Gamesmith" creates a safe table

HOUSE RULES: All players are expected to follow these rules to ensure that everyone has a fun, fair, and memorable experience: --You May Only Control Your Character: Each player has control over their character's actions and behavior, not the actions or behaviors of others. --A PG-13 Tone: The appropriate tone for the game falls around a PG-13 rating. Please refrain from language, jokes, or character choices that may make others feel uncomfortable. --Focus on the Game: During the game, players are expected to give their full focus and attention to playing the game. This includes taking notes and keeping track of their Character’s hit points, spell slots, class abilities, and other stats. --Don't Interrupt: Please do not talk over other players or the Game Master. --No Cheating: “Metagaming” is not permitted. Players should also be 100% honest about their dice rolls. --Don't Argue with the Game Master: The Game Master’s rulings are final, even if they contradict the game rules as written. STATUS CHECKS: In games like this, depictions of violent combat and intense roleplay are common. However, some moments may become too intense or even triggering for some players. To make sure that everyone is still safe, doing well, and having a fun time, the Dungeon Master (or any player) may call for a “Status Check” during gameplay. At that time, all players are encouraged to respond (as a player) in code with either “Green,” “Yellow,” or “Red.” (X, N, and O Cards can also be used, if preferred.) (This response can be spoken out loud, typed publicly, or messaged to the Dungeon Master privately.) The Dungeon Master will then announce that play will continue or that it is time for a short break. Green (or O) = “I am having fun, let’s keep going!” Yellow (or N) = “I think we should bring the intensity of the scene down or move on.” Red (or X) = “I am not having fun.” or “We should probably take a break.” (Feel free to message the Dungeon Master with additional information to help avoid running into this problem again.)
