About the adventure
Years after the war over New York, the Camarilla has stagnated, the city's resources plundered by the Tower's elite. Prince Lizette Solomon's open handed rule has led to a paradise for the powerful, and unliving servitude for the less fortunate. Resentment festers like an open sore, and many reject the grace of the Camarilla, refusing both its protection and its rule. As the Kindred population swells and immortal tensions rise, an old enemy gains new tricks, and begins a shadow campaign against the monsters who infest their cities. New York by Night: Stirring Shadows is a Vampire 20th Anniversary Edition chronicle centered around a coterie of neonates in the last years of the city's peace. Set in 2009, the game will blend elements of V20 and V5 metaplot, along with homebrewed content and a unique cast of characters. The chronicle will focus on themes of ambition, injustice, and personal horror, and will include a larger focus on the mortal connections a vampire keeps than most games. Players who enjoy the personal horror aspect of vampire will feel right at home. Content Warning: Vampire the Masquerade deals with themes and topics many may find difficult to handle including but not limited to those listed below. Though I take great pains to handle these topics tastefully, and want to accommodate all players, the nature of the system and its themes may make it difficult for those uncomfortable with social, political, and physical violence to participate.

About me
Heya! I'm Gant, a transfemme writer, amateur musician, and experienced storyteller with a character oriented, sandbox-y approach to games- I follow the old GM advice "write settings and situations, not stories". I believe in player agency and the creative strengths of improv, and I'm a passionate, if slightly sadistic storyteller who thrives best in systems that lean on gothic horror tropes (read: VAMPIRE THE MASQUERADE). Don't worry though, like all good ST's, I want my players to succeed! I just want it to be earned with a little blood along the path. I am well versed in picking up groups online, and have a multi-stage application process for any game that filters the wierdos. I'm super open to players from all walks of life, but tend to form primarily queer groups, as they often have a unique perspective that will appreciate my styling of horror. Overall- If you like stories that lay moral quandaries on the characters, short brutal combats, ultraviolence with (a LOT) of gore, worlds that are built up around the characters, and VAMPIRES VAMPIRES VAMPIRES then I'm probably the perfect ST for you!

Creating your character
Character creation will be handled with a Session 0 and one on one discussions with the ST. Please do not come with characters! We will all have more fun if we work together to create a coterie (of course, if you have ideas or an archetype, bring that to the table!)
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A basic familiarity with Vampire 20th edition will take you far. Familiarity with Roll20 or Foundry is a plus but not required. Please read the lore I provide!
What Gant brings to the table
I am a RP first storyteller, but I do utilize visuals, edited into a cohesive style for each game. I offer lore-rich worlds but do not require players to know it perfectly.
Homebrew rules
Mostly stick to the rules, with a few minor tweaks around Disciplines and certain systems of the blood. We will be utilizing a homebrew form of the Predator Type from 5th edition, and a modified version of Blood Sympathy from VtR

How Gant creates a safe table
We will create a shared Lines and Veils document in session 0. I use a messaged X card system, but also provide a digital variant. I take player safety very seriously and will not hesitate to kick non-compliant players.
