About the adventure
Step into the streets of Baldur’s Gate, a city of bustling markets, shadowed alleys, and endless opportunity. Wealthy merchants and powerful aristocrats thrive while ordinary citizens struggle to survive. Your characters will navigate a world of intrigue, crime, and unexpected alliances, where quick thinking can mean the difference between success and disaster. This campaign is designed for both new and returning players. I’ll guide you through character creation, combat, spellcasting, and story-driven roleplay. Explore the city, form alliances, and face challenges that test both your wits and your morals!

Meet the Game Master
About me
I have been playing D&D for over 18 years across multiple editions, and I’ve been Dming for just as long. I’ve run many adventures for players at my local game store, including both official 5e modules like Ghosts of Saltmarsh and my own homebrew campaigns. I also have over a decade of experience as a math teacher/tutor, which helps me bring patience, clarity, and a love of both teaching and gaming to every table.

Creating your character
Character creation will happen during the first part of session one. I’ll guide you step-by-step using D&D Beyond to create your character. (Or provide you with a pre-made character if you wish!) Characters will start at 1st level, use "point buy" to determine ability scores, and use character options from Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn, Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse, Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, and the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide/Player's Handbook.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need an active D&D beyond account (No subscription required) as well as a Discord account for communication.
What Valentine brings to the table
If you're looking to learn the D&D 5th edition (2024) rules, explore character roleplay, or dive into thrilling combats like those found in Baldur's Gate 3, I aim to deliver that experience for you. I stick closely to the Rules as Written, but I’m always open to bending them for new players or to make a moment more fun or cinematic (in moderation, of course). I most often use NPC interactions (with the occasional character voice) and light scene-setting narration to build an immersive gaming experience. Overall the focus is always on making everyone feel comfortable and immersed.

Safety
How Valentine creates a safe table
Before the first session, I will provide each player with a TTRPG safety form PDF to fill out and send back to me. This covers comfort levels for different types of content. During play, players can use the X, N, and O system privately by messaging me on Discord at any time. I also host a group chat via discord where we can review everyone’s boundaries, set expectations for tone and content, and make sure we’re all on the same page about what kind of story we want to tell. I also like to check in with players after sessions (Even after one-shots!) to make sure everyone’s feeling good about the game. This gives players a chance to share highlights, discuss any discomfort, or clarify anything that might have felt heavy in play. My goal is to keep the game fun, respectful, and safe for all players.
