About me

My name is Clayton, and I have been playing TTRPGs since 2019 and became a GM in 2020 out of necessity. In the middle of the pandemic, I needed an outlet and sought D&D. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anyone to GM for me, so I became my group's GM. Since then, I have branched out into Bunkers & Badasses and feel pretty comfortable running both systems. I am also working on learning Free League’s: The One Ring 2e and Pathfinder 2e. I always prioritize fun for the group as a whole. I am not a fan of what I like to call "Main Character Syndrome" where one or two players steal the spotlight. All TTRPGs are about the group dynamic, and I do the hard work to make sure that everyone has their chance to shine (unless they don't want to, but that is something we discuss). In 2021, I was promoted to Overnight Supervisor at my local university's library. During my interview, I pitched the idea to start a program to teach D&D to college students. For about 2 years, I ran this program during my overnight shift. This program was successful in teaching hundreds of students how to play the game. When I left the library for a new job, I began GMing on a part-time basis to continue my efforts. At the end of November 2024, I quit my full-time job to pursue GMing in a full-time capacity. I treat this as my actual job (because it is). By choosing to play with me, not only are you signing up for a good time to play a great game with like-minded folk, but you are also supporting the idea that TTRPGs are more than just a hobby and can be the pathway to something more. With all my heart I want to teach these games to those who need them in times of adversity. I might not be the best GM in the world, but I will always try my hardest to make sure that everyone at my table (virtual or otherwise) has fun, learns something, and has an opportunity to be who/what they want to be that they might not have a chance to do in their normal life

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created by the player, before the session takes place, using D&D Beyond content that is made available through the Dungeon Master. This is a 1st level adventure, therefore, your character must be 1st level. I use the new and updated 2024 rules. Stats should be generated using the rolled method (rolling x4 six-sided die, dropping the lowest value, and adding the top 3 together). If a player has any questions, I am extremely reachable via either email, Discord, or my StartPlaying profile.

Safety

How Clayton creates a safe table

I thrive on player feedback. That is why, first and foremost, I want my players to be aware of their wants, needs, desires, etc, and communicate them with me through a lines and veils conversation which will occur in the days before the session in a Discord server. After the session, I engage in aftercare and debriefing to further understand what I might have done wrong or could have done better in the future.
