About the adventure

Eberron is a world where magic fuels industry, nations balance on the edge of war, and the Draconic Prophecy whispers through every street, ruin, and lightning rail. In Shards of the Shattered Prophecy, the fragments of an ancient omen are breaking loose across Khorvaire, manifesting as strange events, lost artifacts, and creatures touched by something far older than the Last War. Your party stands at the center of it—whether by chance, bloodline, or destiny. This campaign is an open-world sandbox: roam the towers of Sharn, delve into the ruins of Xen’drik, ride the lightning rails, negotiate with dragonmarked houses, explore the Mournland, or chase legends deep into the jungles of Q’barra. Your choices shape political alliances, uncover mysteries, and determine which factions rise… or fall. The tone mixes pulp action, noir mystery, and high-magic exploration. Every character origin—from warforged veteran to Lyrandar scion—matters. The world reacts to your actions, new threats emerge from player decisions, and the Prophecy adapts to the paths you choose. If you crave a dynamic world filled with intrigue, discovery, heroics, and magical technology, Eberron awaits. Together in session 0, we will define the play style you prefer, and the kind of stories you want to experience in this campaign, then I create the campaign within the Eberron setting using Daggerheart system to deliver a breathtaking story that would forge your legend.

About me

Hello! I'm DM Mat, a game master with over 35 years of experience behind the screen. I started with Advanced Dungeons & Dragons and have played through every era up to D&D 5e 2024. Over the decades I’ve run countless stories across many worlds — from grim mysteries to wild planar adventures to hilarious improv-driven chaos. I really enjoy a wide cast of pro DMs, but Chris Perkins and Acquisitions Incorporated stand out to me: energetic, improvisational, character-driven, and always adapted to the tone of the table. Sessions can be serious, heroic, comedic, dark, or a mix — whatever brings out the most fun for the group. I run one-shots, long campaigns, play-by-post games, sandbox explorations, West Marches, and reimagined official modules like Curse of Strahd, Storm King’s Thunder, Tomb of Annihilation, Descent into Avernus, Rise of the Runelords, Kingmaker, and Age of Worms. I also love Eberron, Planescape, Faerûn, and fully homebrew worlds. I mostly run games in French or English as suits the current party. In my games, both newcomers and seasoned heroes are equally welcome. I can also run games for your group or a private event — just inquire, we acquire. Above all, my tables are respectful, collaborative, and focused on shared enjoyment. If you love exploration, memorable characters, surprising twists, and a relaxed but immersive atmosphere, I’d be happy to welcome you to the adventure.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation in a Play-By-Post game works a little differently than in a live game. Since we won’t have a traditional Session 0, we’ll build your character asynchronously and collaboratively before play begins. Here’s how the process works: Rules & Character Level We will be using the core Daggerheart rules, and characters begin at Level 1 for this storyline. You can create your character using Demiplane Nexus. I can share access to the book if needed. All players are encouraged discuss together character ideas and bonds, I will jump in and help so characters are interwoven with the campaign’s themes (Prophecy, planar forces, Dragonmarked Houses, ancient mysteries, etc.) Share 2–3 loose character ideas and we’ll help refine them Discuss your character’s ties to the world and to the other PCs Ask the group for bonds, shared backstory hooks, rivalries, or connections Let me know if you want your character tangled in the Prophecy or hunted by factions like the Aurum, the Chamber, or the Lords of Dust

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account for between session communications, and for Voice in session. For Play-by-post, you will not need to access Foundry VTT and it is possible to play only with a mobile phone on Discord. If you have a Demiplane - Nexus account, then I can share you the Daggerheart book should you need it.

What DM Mat brings to the table

This campaign is mostly Theater of the Mind, with imagery to open your imagination. Some grid might be used for clarity when appropriate. I sometimes use music and ambiant sounds, but from my experience, many players just turn it off on their side as it is often a distraction. I usually don't play with webcam, if all the group prefer to play with webcam, we can turn it on for online sessions.

Homebrew rules

This game will incorporate some special rules to make it more in tune with the tone of the setting.
