About the adventure
The great cities of Neverwinter and Waterdeep, the various factions of Faerun, and ancient powers all vie for control of the Sword Coast. East of the High Road, halfway between Neverwinter and Waterdeep, lies the town of Phandalin. Built upon the ruins of an older settlement, Phandalin is a simple mining town that’s future may affect the entire Sword Coast. Common Knowledge of Phandalin • Phandalin is a frontier town, home to farmers, trappers, and prospectors. • The last few months have seen reduced lumber and ore shipments to Neverwinter. • A large beast has been seen flying in the mountains to the east. • The region is littered with mysterious ruins and remnants of ancient times. Phandalin Calls for Aid! Rumors of opportunities in Phandalin have been spread around the inns of Neverwinter. Tales of riches to be won, wonders to be seen, and secrets to be found. Harbin Wester, the town master, is seeking an intrepid group to help stabilize the region.

About me
Howdy! I am Scott, I have played D&D on and off for over 40 years. I like published, organized play, and homebrew adventures.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Characters will be created using 2024 rules. Characters begin at 1st level. You can choose character options from the Player’s Handbook (2024), Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun, and Eberron: Forge of the Artificer. Stats will be rolled in Roll20, 4d6 drop the lowest. Alternatively, you can choose to use the standard array. You can manage your character through DnD Beyond using Beyond20 or directly in Roll20.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a Discord account and a Roll20 account. Players can use DnD Beyond, but will need Beyond20 to connect to Roll20.
What Scott brings to the table
I am more rule of cool than rules as written. I try to minimize the amount of "feel bads", especially during Tier 1 adventures. I grant cinematic advantage. Combat can be intense. Escalation, environmental challenges, and structural devices may become factors to both help and hinder the party. After character creation, players may use physical dice instead of the dice rollers, but must enter into chat.
Homebrew rules
I use the following house rules, and I am willing to entertain others: • Sundered Shields: When a character wearing a non magic shield is hit by a melee weapon attack, they can choose to have their shield destroyed and take no damage from the attack. • Static Initiative for Monsters: Non-Boss Monsters initiative will always be 12. • Devastating Critical Hits: Monsters double damage on critical hits.
