About the adventure

This will be an Open-World game, integrating player backstories into the world to help fill up the sandbox. The campaign is open to all skill/experience levels of D&D players. Fasra'cin is a homebrewed High-Fantasy setting, and is constantly growing with and around the players. Player backstory and input will help shape the world and bring the stories to life. About Fasra’cin: A world of magic, peril, and mayhem. Once a lush and vibrant world where all things could thrive and strive for greatness…until The Squall. Though little is known of the event itself, the repercussions are obvious in the landscape, the wildlife, and the people themselves. The energies of the Squall remain; monstrosities, aberrations, and other creatures will appear in the Fasra’cin when these energies interact. What is known of The Squall is that energy from the various planes of existence seeped into Fasra’cin and, over time, flooded the planet. Where conflicting energies met, planar storms erupted until the entire world was nearly consumed by The Squall. The energies that infuse Fasra'cin eb and flow like tides, small planar storms emerging where conflicting energies collide, causing strange and terrifying creatures to coalesce and manifest. These instances are referred to as Planar Furors. Many people are touched by planar energies just from proximity to the infused lands. Those touched by the planes are altered based on the energies they are near. For example, Tieflings and Aasimar are more likely to be born near Infernal and Celestial energies, respectively; Sea elves have an increased chance to be born near eddies of the Elemental Plane of Water; Aarakocra are more frequently found near whirlwinds of the Elemental Plane of Air, etc. Individuals truly infused by planar energy, often referred to as "Planes-Struck" either derogatorily or admiringly, are rare, due to a high mortality rate during infancy. Rumors and Folklore tell tales of Planes-Struck who became Tyrants, Heroes, Saviors, and Cut-Throats. Planes-Struck individuals are treated differently across Fasra'cin; in some places, they are lauded and celebrated to the point of borderline worship, while in others, they are viewed with suspicion and malice.

About me

I've been playing D&D and other TTRPGs since I was in middle school. I have been running games since college, starting with a Star Wars-skinned D&D 3.5 game. I enjoy helping new players find things to love about TTRPGs, bringing veteran players a fun experience, and ensuring that everyone has a memorable adventure. I have run multiple "D&D 101" games that allow new players to dip a toe in without committing to a full campaign. I am a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, a huge Star Wars fan, and an animal nerd.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will start the campaign at level 2 using the 2024 Rule Set as available* Stats can be rolled manually on DNDBeyond. If two scores below 10 are rolled, you may reroll the entire set. Character Creation will occur on DNDBeyond, which allows for content sharing, so no need to purchase any yourself. *If some species and subclasses don't mesh well with the 2024 rules, I am more than happy to work with you to figure out how to create the character you envision.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A link to the DNDBeyond Campaign page will be provided for character creation and management. A link to the Discord Server will be provided for communication and video chats.

What Max brings to the table

I integrate character backstories, even in one-shots, into the storyline. I run heavy RP stories primarily with some combat scattered into it. Character voices will be utilized (I hope you enjoy the attempt) Any combat will lean toward the "Rule of Cool" with the Rules as Written being used as a baseline/a set of guidelines.

Homebrew rules

Potion Drinking: Drinking a potion yourself is a bonus action; feeding a potion to another character is an action. Crunchy Crits: When you score a critical hit, you maximize your damage dice + modifiers and then roll the damage dice again Healthy Living: All players may re-roll any 1s when gaining HP during level ups
