About the adventure

Explore the world of Vanitas several kingdoms and empires across the lands Viking-like Orcs raiding their shore and sacking cities, dragons of immense power biding their time, various ne're-do-wells plotting dastardly deeds as well as those who aim to stop them, where you land and who you help is up to you. The game will be wholly sandbox style with a multitude of quests and such hooks that will allow everyone playing to find something that interests them ranging from crafting, intrigue, combat, or roleplay to other things. The players are obviously not limited to working in the guild where they will start everyone is welcome to forge their own path within the game.

About me

Been playing TTRPGs for almost 2 decades on both sides of the dm screen, I enjoy getting a group together to have a good time more than anything else i prioritize making sure that everyone at the table is having a good time. I have run campaigns for various TTRPGs ranging from dnd 5e/3.5e to Dragon Age and Call of Cthulhu. When I am behind the screen, I tend to lean equally into Combat and Roleplay because i find them both rewarding in their own way, the ratio of these in my games depends on the preferences of my players. The themes my stories tend to be somewhere between heroic and grim fantasy/sci-fi, and while i do my best to make the story interesting and engaging for the players and their characters, i also encourage out of character joking and light ribbing between players and myself to help take the bite out of heavy situations that can make people feel sour about something bad that happened. All this said i am a firm believer of actions have consequences and apply that to my games, if you do something stupid and it doesn't work out or sometimes even if it does work out there are things that happen accordingly. But above all I believe having fun is the most important part of any TTRPG.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players are welcome to come to the table with a solid character idea in mind, but are not required to. Stats will be done with either standard array or point buy of 27 points. Characters will be created in either dndbeyond or foundry once invited to the game.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

The game will be run with Discord(voice/video) and Foundry(maps and character sheets)

What Nathan brings to the table

I do character voices for important figures. I like to remain flexible in my style of GMing allowing the players to guide how much roleplay or combat is involved in the game. As for how close I stick to the Rules as Written or following Rule of Cool I usually find myself in the middle ground willing to work with players to allow them to do what they wish to.

Homebrew rules

The only outright homebrew rule I use is potions can be used as a bonus action. Other than that standard rules of my table are don't be a jerk, don't be racist, sexist, etc. No politics or other hot button topics at the table, and if you find yourself having an issue with another player or myself take it up outside of the session times so as to not take away from everyone else's enjoyment.

Safety

How Nathan creates a safe table

Lines and Veils will be something we will go over in session zero to make sure that everyone is on the same page since they are not just about my own lines but the entire groups. Other things that will be gone over in the session zero will be character creation (for those that didn't have one made up already), more information on the system (if new players are involved as they are always welcome in my games) and setting. Aftercare will be very open ended as I will endeavor to make myself available to my players whenever I can even outside of paid game sessions. They will be able to message me with concerns or suggestions at nearly anytime and I will do my best to make myself available after sessions as well for players to talk to me.
