About the adventure

The city was said to have been founded on love and compassion, but time has twisted it into a pit of despair, where the lord overtaxes the people and thieves and gangs rule the streets. Whether you were raised in the streets, among adventurers, or with the upper crust, you know Grace is not for those with weak wills or constitutions. Those who do often find themselves slaving away in the prisons and workhouses. Despite this, there is a time of year that brings the best out of even your worst enemies, and you are thankful that Lord Scrooge lets you celebrate despite his open hatred for it. However, this year, the chill of winter brings bad tidings. Whispers of a revolution against the greedy lord are afoot, and rumors speak of strange shadows and goblins in the streets. Such times call for heroes. Will you answer the call and help defend the city against the forces of darkness on the solstice? --------- Grab a cup of hot cocoa or cider and join us on this adventure inspired by the works of Charles Dickens. Experience the journey at your own pace through play-by-post as you explore the city's history, solve mysteries, and help redeem lost souls during this snowy season.

About me

I'm just your average 30-something guy living out in the sticks with a love of stories and adventure. Whether you're looking to use new rules for your D&D games, learning to play tabletop RPGs, or just looking for a late-night one-shot, my services are open to run your sessions and roll some dice with friends and strangers alike! Ever since a friend let me read a 3rd Edition Monster Manual at summer camp, I've been captivated by D&D lore. I decided to share this passion by starting my own games, gathering friends and family to play with starter kits. Over time, I've explored settings like the Mists of Ravenloft and the Islands of Kozakura, learning from the characters and stories they presented. After years of experience, I am now here to help you bring your tale to life! I am curious about what you will bring to the table, and I will be more than happy to guide you into the world of TTRPGs! I offer a variety of discounts to players who purchase my services. These include "Half-Off Holidays", "BOGOHO Buddies", and "DnDate Nights". Check with me to qualify. Update: Now offering FREE first sessions!

Character creation

Creating your character

Here are some guidelines for character creation: - We will use Roll20's character creator (2014 or 2024) to simplify building your adventurer, or start from scratch, or choose a ready-to-play character they've provided. - Stats will be determined by the standard array or rolling 4d6 and dropping the lowest die. - For beginners, I will assist in any way I can to help with character building and understanding mechanics along the way. - You can use the rules provided in the Roll20 compendium. However, you can inquire about using other references that can be edited into your sheet as well.

Homebrew rules

As an action, you can throw a potion of healing at a point up to 60 feet away, where the bottle smashes and spills its contents. Each creature in a 5-foot-radius Sphere centered on that point is healed as if they drank the potion. ----------------------- You can use heroic inspiration to draw from the inspiration deck and gain an additional effect in combat.

Safety

How Curtis creates a safe table

This is an open-door campaign, so players can come and go as required. Please inform me in advance if you won't attend a session or need to leave early. I also have the table open for stars and wishes, inviting comments on what works and what needs improvement for future sessions. I'm always looking for ways to make sure my players are enjoying their time at the table. Players who disrespect these rules receive two warnings, after which the offender will be removed.
