About the adventure
It's the evening of April 12th 1926. You are on the SS Essex County, a mixed cargo and passenger ship on its way to Rockport, Massachusetts. Unfortunately in 15 minutes time the Beacon Island Lighthouse will go out, causing your ship to founder on the island's rocks taking serious damage and requiring you to abandon ship. The crew has advised that you and the other passengers take the lifeboat and land on Beacon Island. There's a storm brewing after all! Hopefully the lighthouse keepers will be able to help! This adventure is geared toward beginners to Call of Cthulhu 7th edition. It is designed to introduce players to the basics like dice rolls, character sheets and other game specific hijinks in one self contained adventure! No commiting to game that could take weeks or months and a friendly, supportive GM (that's me) to help you wrap your head around it all!

About me
Hey guys, gals and non binary pals! I'm the Dreaded DM, also known as Dread, also known as Caitlin I will answer to any title, especially if it's flattering! I'm an Irish/American/Caribbean TTRPG performer and GM, ready to use my experience and skills to run some lovely games. I started playing Dungeons and Dragons 5e five years ago, finding an online game using a platform very similar to this. I very quickly became enamoured with the game and began running games both online and IRL. In the years since, I have run both free and paid games for conventions, events and Twitch streams all over Ireland and have made some incredible friends along the way. If you want to see an example of my GMing, here's a VOD of me running a charity game for Blades in the Dark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M-FKsPiG7o I hope that by signing up and telling a story together, you make make some equally incredible friends and memories.

Creating your character
I'm happy to provide pre generated character sheets as PDFs if players would like them. If players would like to create their own characters, I recommend using The Dhole's House (you will need to create an account) and send me your finished character sheet. Please feel free to contact me if you need any help with character creation.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be playing in my discord server (I will provide an invite link once the party is assembled) so a Discord account is nesscary to play. Once we have our full party confirmed, I will provide any handouts that are required through the Discord server in a private chat within the server. If you have any questions about the game, character creation etc. please feel free to ask them in the group chat! I prefer to use IRL dice in my games but there will be the option to roll dice in Discord. I use it it to roll important rolls "in front of the table".
What The Dreaded DM brings to the table
tend to do character voices in games and I will always try to indicate if I'm speaking in or out of character. Please be aware that you as a player are not obligated to do silly voices! I just like to! I also like to use ambient music where appropriate but please do not hesitate to tell me to turn off the music if you find it overstimulating! Finally, as I mentioned in the prep section I prefer to use IRL dice in my games but there will be the option to roll dice in Discord. I will use it it to roll important rolls "in front of the table". We will decide as a table if we want all players to use IRL dice (honor system) or roll dice in the Discord.
